Congressman: Hillary Clinton agrees to testify to House's Benghazi panel

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has agreed to testify to the House's select committee investigating Benghazi, the panel's Democratic ranking member told CNN on Tuesday.

Rep. Elijah Cummings said that Clinton agreed to testify before the committee investigating the 2012 terrorist attack in December after he contacted her months earlier.

"The chairman asked me back in September to inquire as to whether Secretary Clinton would testify," Cummings said. "She immediately said she would and that she wanted to come in December, but if December did not work, she would come in January. She said I'll do it, period. The fact is she was very clear. She did not hesitate for one second."

The U.S. consulate in Libya was attacked on Sept. 11, 2012. Four Americans, including the U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, were killed. Initially, the attack was thought to be perpetrated by an angry mob responding to a video made in the U.S. which mocked Islam and the Prophet Mohammed, but was later determined to be a terrorist attack.

I believe this is an attempt to muddy her up as much as possible in order to taint her Presidential ambitions.

And of course, a 5-year investigation sounds much worse than a 1-year investigation.

Optics!

They just cannot get that through their little pea brains. People who even just might get out and vote for a Democrat are not the people who would be, or will be, buying this foolishness. Those days are long gone and for some strange reason the GOP cannot see that fact. Polling shows the majority of American's are not listening to their "Benghazi Hearings" anymore. They're like the 'boy who cried wolf' and people have moved on at this point.

out in the open. As FOX tells their listeners Benghazi is all Obama and Hillary's fault then the rest of the world can look at the GOP for the liars they are.

How come they didn't have these many committees over the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq?

Sixty people died at diplomatic posts during the Bush years. Why weren't Powell and Rice blamed for their deaths?

Four people died at the hand of extremists in a very dangerous country and Hillary is held personally responsible for their deaths.

Crazy...........

It really was prudent to have hearings on what the reaction to terrorist targeting of embassies and less guarded facilities in troubled countries. In addition, given when Congress was in session and when HRC was healthy, it almost had to be either at the end or near the end of her tenure.

Here, it should be mentioned - that before the hearings - soon after the attack, Hillary Clinton rightfully started a nonpartisan investigation that was tasked both to look into what happened and almost more importantly to relook at how we keep embassies safe. The study put out guidelines and most were put in place before she left and others under Kerry.

However, it is not a "special" committee, but the House and Senate Foreign relations committees that would rightfully do that - and the emphasis would be oversight and keeping people safe in the future.

As to what they hope to gain, I suspect that they already gained ALL they will get. I do not agree with the many postings that Clinton "ate them alive" etc. In fact, they got a sound bite that I would bet Clinton regrets giving them. There was nothing "real" to get - so getting something said in anger that has been twisted beyond belief.

However, it won't happen twice - and only those wanting to belief the worst of Hillary (right wing Republicans) believe their contention that that sound bite means she did not care that people died. I even suspect they fully know that it was someone pushed too much for too long.

The House Intelligence Committee -- controlled by Republicans -- has issued their report in which they concluded "shit happens."

She'll shove that report up their asses.

Of course, we all must understand the GOP can't be embarrassed and they are NOT interested in the truth. All they want to do is throw red meat to their base -- like the idjit who lives a few miles from me and who has the rear and side windows of his mini-van plastered with vinyl signs;

-- "No one died in Watergate, Four died in Benghazi . . . Why did Nixon resign?"

-- "What did Hillary know and when did she know it?"

-- "Benghazi: We will NEVER forget!"

She's going to eat their lunch six ways to Sunday. A total win situation for Hillary and a no win situation for the brainless Republicans in office.

Republicans: Hey, I have a great idea let's hand a Democrat running for president in 2016 a spotlight to show how much smarter she is than we are. (Excited Republicans giggle with glee and rub their hands together in a sinister, and disturbingly maniacal manner) Brilliant idea, let's do it!

A phone rings at the Clinton residence.

Hillary Clinton: Sure I can testify in front of your already debunked Benghazi panel, name the date and time and I'll clear my schedule. (Smiling from ear to ear she calls her top strategist) We were right, they played right into my hands, now it's showtime!

Geeze, could they be any dumber?

See, the thing is they're all MEN. And that of course makes them smarter, tougher, stronger (did I mention smarter?) then women, and Hillary you know is a...woman! So of course they think they can bring her in and with a little kindly, southern gentlemanly mansplaining and stern talk confuse her and cause her to confess her crimes and misdemeanors and utterly destroy her presidential ambitions. And maybe even make her cry.

A national audience will watch as they attempt to bully and intimidate her, and she will remain calm, cool and factual while she SPANKS their bottoms and makes them look like the foolish school yard bullies they are. They will look small and insignificant, and HRC will look Presidential in comparison. If Gowdy has her in front of his committee anytime after April that man is even dumber than I think he is, and I think he's pretty damn dumb.

Why does Hillary have to testify again for the stupidity the Repubs did when they refused to set money aside for upgrades, especially upgrades to PROTECT embassy personnel all over the world?? This is another reason the Repubs want to try and break her momentum.
I see the COCK BROTHERS are weening Walker the idiot for a run at the Presidency. He might be good in those states where the idiot conservative bible thumpers live, but forget about states that have some common sense. I guess ole Gowdy has to placate his base fools to believe their's still something they haven't found at Benghazi,Benghazi, Benghazi.
