Report: Only 3% of Mainstream TV News Guests Opposed War: Democracy Now, FAIR

Last edited Tue Nov 18, 2014, 09:11 AM - Edit history (2)

http://www.democracynow.org/2014/11/17/headlines#11173

A new analysis of mainstream TV news has found there was almost no debate about whether the United States should go to war in Iraq and Syria. The group Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, or FAIR, found that of the more than 200 guests who appeared on network shows to discuss the topic, just six voiced opposition to military action. On the high-profile Sunday talk shows, out of 89 guests, there was just one antiwar voice — Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor of The Nation.

Here is a link to the actual study, published by FAIR

Proof that the Mainstream Media wants war, to frighten all of us. Constant War!!!!!
George Orwell .....1984.. predicted this......from Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four

Nineteen Eighty-Four, sometimes published as 1984, is a dystopian novel by George Orwell published in 1949.[1][2] The novel is set in Airstrip One (formerly known as Great Britain), a province of the superstate Oceania in a world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, and public manipulation, dictated by a political system euphemistically named English Socialism (or Ingsoc in the government's invented language, Newspeak) under the control of a privileged Inner Party elite that persecutes all individualism and independent thinking as "thoughtcrimes".[3] The tyranny is epitomised by Big Brother, the quasi-divine Party leader who enjoys an intense cult of personality, but who may not even exist. The Party "seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power

This should be something the MSM should have to answer for. A democracy cannot survive with this kind of media environment.

As we can plainly see the democracy isn't surviving. It is hanging by a thread.

Any and every politician that doesn't use their office to address this issue are betraying the American people.

try it. And my argument would be that we should go even further and not just try democracy (which would give rights to women and other minorities that we do not have currently under the US Constitution) but also replace the money-grubbing capitalism with socialism. There has got to be a better way to divvy up resources in this country - and in this world. A handful of billionaires sitting on most of the money doesn't work for most of us.

propaganda.

Our justice system ruled that news does not have to be truthful or factual.

Why would anyone expect any truth from the corporate or state owned media ???

The media is owned by the very people who will profit from war.

I cancelled my cable and stopped watching TV in the run-up to the war - just couldn't take it anymore. I hope the younger generation doesn't follow in the habits of the older, but I suspect it will. My kids watch a lot of videos, and movies and shows on netflix, but network news is so uselessly far from reality even they wonder why people watch it. They get their news on social media generally, and have gotten the hang of quickly researching things before accepting a story or jumping to conclusions.

What the GREEDY BASTARDS want is world domination, using America's military (i.e., killing machine) to gain and keep the domination. With people like the KOCH-Suckers leading the Oligarchs, they are close to achieving their dream. Will ordinary Americans be able to oppose them?

You have to remember who owns the media. This is why I never listen to MSM news. Bob Schieffer, for instances, has hosted McCain over 100 times on Sunday Morning. He had Netanyahu on last week. Why?

It makes sense that our news media would report and focus on something that is going to benefit them and their ratings the most. The news media is in the business of news to make money, not for the betterment of our society.

Just like the health insurance industry is in the market to make themselves a profit, not to actually take care of people.

Free market capitalism at its best!

I subscribe to it.
That way they watch the MSM so I don't have to.
