Want ad for Montana ghost town generates 5,000 replies

(Great Falls Tribune) -- Who would want to live in a Montana ghost town? The answer is "thousands".

Lacking a few extra volunteers to work at the Garnet ghost town this summer, the Bureau of Land Management sent out a news release in late March asking for people who might like to spend a month or two at the abandoned 1870s mining town east of Missoula.

"The Bureau of Land Management's Missoula Field Office is looking for a few good men and women to volunteer their time at one of Montana's most colorful ghost towns during the summer and fall," the news release states.

Perhaps a few people would reply; maybe a retired couple or two or a few college kids. The response; however, was overwhelming.
