White-On-White Crime Strikes Again In Waco
Following a spate of white-on-white violence over the weekend in Waco, Texas, that claimed nine lives and resulted in scores of casualties and over 190 arrests, there has been a marked lack of interest in talking about where the event fits into the epidemic of such white criminal behavior in the U.S. -- despite the fact that every year, more white people are murdered by white people than by any other group.
In recent years, a national pattern has begun to emerge in the wake of shootings in which a black man is killed by a white man. Of course the death is a tragedy, goes the narrative, but the dead man probably provoked the killing somehow -- and more importantly, if you truly care about young black men, why aren't you more concerned about black-on-black violence?
The same pattern doesn't hold even when white-on-white crime unfolds in full view of the nation, as it did in the parking lot of the Twin Peaks Restaurant on Sunday.
Yet white-on-white crime should be a huge concern -- because its out of control. Granted, there are 201 thugs off the streets for the time being, but what about the rest of them?

(31,849 posts)no one is excusing the violence by pointing to the alleged criminality of the victim ... even, when the victims are ALL CRIMINALS.

The attitude is, A pox on both their houses. No calls for understanding or for trying to fix the social environment that these poor, troubled men grew up in.
No. They're thugs and it was a shoot-out. Nothing to soften either side, and nobody's taking either side, mourning the guilty on either side except possibly for their families and close friends. Innocent bystanders, that's a different matter, and that's appropriate. The gang members are excluded by nearly any social group or community that anybody cares about. If anything, they're like a malignant tumor and rejected by most sane folk.
Nor is anybody acting defensively, saying that somehow it's others' fault or an internal matter. Their blood be on their own heads. This is in spite of those who want to somehow score political points. Such faux pundits are irrelevant and apparently quite loudly insist on having nothing to add and being as marginal as possible.
