Ten Facebook Pages You Need to Stop Sharing From

http://dawnsbrain.com/ten-facebook-pages-you-need-to-stop-sharing-from/

"A friend of mine shared an eyebrow-raising article on Facebook. The linked story was along the lines of “private planes stolen by terrorists in the Middle East, and an attack is imminent”. The sensible people among his friends good-naturedly mocked him. They ribbed him about how ridiculous the prediction was. And all you had to do was consider the source.

My friend had shared the story from a notoriously crackpot Facebook page. The post lacked any merit, save a few tenuous and unrelated pieces of actual news. This behavior was typical of this particular page. Often, these types of pages hook you with a kernel of truth, and then wrap it in layers of idiocy.

When confronted, this friend said, “well, we’ll see who’s right in time.” The prediction by Natural News has failed to become reality almost a year later.

The Facebook fan pages below have a habit of spitting scientific inquiry and reason in the eye. They also have an unreasonably high number of fans who share their inanity. Shares from the following pages deserve a serious eye roll and shaking of one’s head.

America.
I think there is some credence to a lot of whey is said albeit I don't buy into any one of the sources completely.
I think that many people who study Chinese medicine, which has been developing for about 2000 years and recognizes the importance of diet, would justifiably roll their eyes at every new "miracle cure" big pharma comes out with this month… until they figure out that it can result in impotence, headaches, dizzyness, drowsiness, severe pain, or death and then pull it off the market.

I am into utilizing the scientific process to help make the best decisions on treatments. I am not particularly fond of pseudoscience. In fact, I find it to be rather unethical. The pages listed in this OP are simply untenable, as they push all sorts of ugly nonsense upon people. Listing possible side effects to medicine has nothing to do with the matter of these pages being ridiculous and unethical in nature. BTW, TCM is just another pre-scientific notion that is being used today. It's one elaborate placebo.

Food and diet are a part of health care. No one says differently except alt med providers who try to pretend that it's not. Also, those pages give bad information on food.

Alex Jones should be number 1, then Mercola, followed by Mike Adams and Vani Hari in whichever order you prefer, and then the rest of them.

It is important to me to read the trends, techniques and news in my field.

Here is the last post I shared

http://www.cmu.edu/news/stories/archives/2015/june/catalysts-remove-estrogenic-compounds-from-wastewater.html

Catalysts created by Carnegie Mellon University chemist Terrence J. Collins effectively and safely remove a potent and dangerous endocrine disruptor from wastewater.
In a paper published in Scientific Reports, Collins’ research team and collaborators led by Brunel University London’s Susan Jobling and Rak Kanda demonstrate that the catalysts could be a viable option for large-scale water treatment.
As pharmaceutical use has skyrocketed, especially in first-world countries, the amount of drugs released into the water system through wastewater has dramatically increased. Medications designed to disrupt the endocrine system, such as birth control pills and some breast and prostate cancer drugs, can be found in close to 25 percent of the world’s streams, rivers and lakes. Studies have shown that these compounds have an adverse effect on the health of wildlife.
In many cases, researchers are finding that male fish in these polluted water sources undergo a process called feminization, which is an indicator that estrogenic contaminants are present in the water. Prolonged exposure to these female hormones can cause males to develop eggs in their testes and leads to the decline of fish populations.

I sure hope you are not questioning my love of the puppy pages

But, can I be an acceptable liberal if I admit that an herbal remedy helped my unbearable menstral pain when I was young when my Dr had put me on narcotics for it? I did try the narcotics, I really did! But they made me itch and I had trouble focusing in school while scientifically fucked up.

I know the fact that an herb helped me is supposed to make me an idiot and negate the prescribed pharmaceuticals that I take for other conditions. This humiliation of anyone who ever buys a head of organic lettuce or herbal remedy is going way too far around here. This tent is pup-sized right now. And NO I neither visit those sites or pass them along. I post puppy pictures, I can only hope those pups aren't too "looney".

What would make things problematic is if you started promoting this remedy to others based on your anecdote. There are many possible reasons why you felt better after taking it, and, it's great that it helped you, but promoting it is a whole different issue.
