Defense Attorneys Demand Release of Thousands of CIA Black Site Photos
Published on
Monday, June 29, 2015 byCommon Dreams "Who knows what is still out there?" defense attorneys ask. "What else is there? That’s what is appalling." by Lauren McCauley, staff writer ![]() Images reportedly depict black sites in Afghanistan, Thailand, Poland, Lithuania, and Romania, as well as torture devices. (Photo: Prachatai/cc/flickr) A recently unearthed cache of photographs of CIA black sites is threatening to further complicate the proceedings of the 9/11 military commission as attorneys for the men detained at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility are demanding the release of the documents as evidence of the U.S. torture program.
U.S. officials told the Washington Post that the roughly 14,000 photographs were discovered earlier this year by military prosecutors reviewing documents on the intelligence agency's interrogation program ahead of the Senate Intelligence Committee report. The classified materials reportedly depict "external and internal shots of facilities where the CIA held al-Qaeda suspects after 9/11" —including the infamous "Salt Pit" in Afghanistan—as well as sites in Thailand, Poland, Lithuania, and Romania. While the images don't explicitly show the interrogations, there are pictures of naked detainees stripped naked for transport, as well as of torture devices, such as a waterboard and confinement boxes. 1. Recommend....
All of this needs to come out. We, The People, Taxpayers paid for it....We deserve to see what has been done with our money in secret for the most part.

2. "Who knows what is still out there? What else is there? That’s what is appalling."
from the article:
"Why is it we are still learning about this stuff?" added Joe Margulies, attorney for Abu Zubaydah, who has been held for more than 12 years without ever being charged with a crime. "Who knows what is still out there? What else is there? That’s what is appalling." |

4. Thank you for this report.
I felt sick when I first learned the American Psychological Association had a role in the torture.
http://www.apa.org/ethics/code/ - doesn't seem to have been followed all that well. I've read so many articles of the horrific conditions and treatment at many of these black sites, many times for prisoners who were trapped for bounty or crossed the wrong border - never charged with a crime, never allowed to contact worried loved ones for years and years, caged and tortured with the blessing, apparently, of lawyers, politicians, psychologists. My question is, who the * made them think they were so powerful they could destroy souls and lives this way. It takes evil hearts and minds to permit and enforce what they did. None of these people deserve to be anywhere but prison themselves. |

7. Once upon a time the truth was labeled paranoid conspiracy theory. Happy belated Canada Day polly7!
I wasn't joking about MKULTRA based reality either. The first President of the other APA(American Psychiatric Association) was McGill's very own Dr. Ewen Cameron

Thanks, polly for posting. I hope we never get to the point where no one writes
about this and just gives up. |

6. Millions of people are being restored rights long denied, yet these individuals are in cages held
in secret, without even a legitimate hearing, for over a decade?
What the fuck is going on here? Where is the outrage? |

9. No one is going to forget this. Their only salvation should be admission, acknowledgement.
Clearly they don't intend to give up their evil ways in dealing with the enemy of the moment. They refuse to be civilized, to be worthy of the respect they demand.
