A Russian Warning

By Dmitry Orlov, The Saker, Victor Katsap and Evgenia Gurevich

We, the undersigned, are Russians living and working in the USA. We have been watching with increasing anxiety as the current US and NATO policies have set us on an extremely dangerous collision course with the Russian Federation, as well as with China. Many respected, patriotic Americans, such as Paul Craig Roberts, Stephen Cohen, Philip Giraldi, Ray McGovern and many others have been issuing warnings of a looming a Third World War. But their voices have been all but lost among the din of a mass media that is full of deceptive and inaccurate stories that characterize the Russian economy as being in shambles and the Russian military as weak—all based on no evidence. But we—knowing both Russian history and the current state of Russian society and the Russian military, cannot swallow these lies. We now feel that it is our duty, as Russians living in the US, to warn the American people that they are being lied to, and to tell them the truth. And the truth is simply this:

If there is going to be a war with Russia, then the United States will most certainly be destroyed, and most of us will end up dead.

Let us take a step back and put what is happening in a historical context. Russia has suffered a great deal at the hands of foreign invaders, losing 22 million people in World War II. Most of the dead were civilians, because the country was invaded, and the Russians have vowed to never let such a disaster happen again. Each time Russia had been invaded, she emerged victorious. In 1812 Nepoleon invaded Russia; in 1814 Russian cavalry rode into Paris. On June 22, 1941, Hitler’s Luftwaffe bombed Kiev; On May 8, 1945, Soviet troops rolled into Berlin.

But times have changed since then. If Hitler were to attack Russia today, he would be dead 20 to 30 minutes later, his bunker reduced to glowing rubble by a strike from a Kalibr supersonic cruise missile launched from a small Russian navy ship somewhere in the Baltic Sea. The operational abilities of the new Russian military have been most persuasively demonstrated during the recent action against ISIS, Al Nusra and other foreign-funded terrorist groups operating in Syria. A long time ago Russia had to respond to provocations by fighting land battles on her own territory, then launching a counter-invasion; but this is no longer necessary. Russia’s new weapons make retaliation instant, undetectable, unstoppable and perfectly lethal . . . .

Such a lack of critical thinking of nearly all the posters on that thread. Just took unfounded claims entirely as fact. Of course, the OP was in that thread, along with our resident Putin-apologist.

"Big bad US has sent troops to the baltic states..."

Yeah, but... What happened before? Wasn't there something with russian paramilitaries showing up out of nowhere in Crimea???

"tax-cheating Russian oligarchs, convicted Ukrainian war criminals, Saudi-supported Wahhabi terrorists in Chechnya or cathedral-desecrating punks in Moscow"

Yeah, but... Are oligarchs still bad if they are best buddies with Putin?
Has there ever been an investigation into the russian war-crimes of the Chechnya-war?
The US being in a strategic partnership with a barely controllable Saudi-Arabia makes them responsible for things that Saudi-Arabia is doing?
And what were those punks doing? IIRC they were disturbing a mass to protest the collusion between church and state. They weren't sentenced for destroying stuff. They were sentenced for disturbing the peace and offending religious people.

The sole reason why the USA and Russia have found themselves on a collision course, instead of defusing tensions and cooperating on a wide range of international problems, is the stubborn refusal by the US leadership to accept Russia as an equal partner:

Because Russia is not an equal to the US.
Russia has neither the diplomatic clout, nor the economic power, nor the technological level, nor the cultural influence to see eye-to-eye with the US. (Tell me: Which technology developed in Russia made international headlines in the last 10 years? Which movie? Which song? Which artist?)

The only level on which Russia can see eye-to-eye with the US is by owning nuclear weapons.
That's it. That's all Russia has got. Nukes and oil. Those are the only reasons why people care about what Russia is thinking.

The Soviet Union, that Russia transformed into a russian empire in the later years, that was a global power. They had diplomatic power, they had money, they had technological breakthroughs, they had cultural influence.
Russia is not the Soviet Union and as such does not deserve the same deference as the Soviet Union. And that demotion is what Russia refuses to accept.

Even during the Cold War, the Russian military occupying Eastern Europe was built for invasion and not for defense, while NATO's military was built for defensive fighting, with little invasion capabilities.

Both countries would be destroyed, and very quickly. A nuclear winter would envelop the world, killing most people on it over a course of several months. Even if Russia were to somehow "annihilate" the US with a flurry of nuclear bombs with none fired in return (almost 0% chance of that happening), the ash and fallout would still make its way to Russia, causing almost everybody there to starve to death.

In fact, many experts believe that even a small exchange (100 or so nukes fired between two opponents) would indirectly kill billions of people on the planet. The author needs to stop being a suck up and pray that both Russia's leaders and the world's leaders don't commit suicide by launching nuclear bombs.

You have a posting record like one. your links are always very worst...this one was a classic: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1017&pid=362091

You also have a track record of posting things, like that link and this video, associated with ultranationalism, white supremacy and neo-Nazism (and complaining about "Anglo-Zionism&quot .

That video you posted is from a channel that promotes the "Slavic Union"--a Russian ultranationalist neo-nazi movement that want to create a Slavic state (and has pro-Hitler and Holocaust Denial on their website).

WTF.

Why don't you just tell us whether you're a neo-Nazi or not, or just a Russian ultranationalist, or just a Putin troll. Could you just come out with it?

Again, your links are to outright fascist & neo-Nazi groups, organizations, and spokesmen. I've documented them. So all you have to do is say Oops, didn't mean to link to so many neo-Nazis so much. Or whatever your excuse is for posting far-right, pro-Kremlin RWNJs & white supremacists on DU.

Just come out with it. It's a fair question, given your posts, and the fact that DU is pretty sick and tired of extremists today. Are you or not?

...found the violence and brutality of extremists funny?

What is at least mildly amusing is to be lectured on extremism, white supremacism, neo-Nazis, and shame by one of the most prolific and glaringly obvious PNAC/MIC shills ever to stain this website.

Who do you think you're fooling? Your job here is to make sure no meaningful, productive discussions ever take place in threads that expose US foreign policy and the criminals who control it for what it actually is. And, sadly, for the most part, it works pretty well by simply driving people away.

And you promote white supremacists to fight the PNAC? *please answer*

And you think I actually work for, and have a job that pays me, to "shill", somehow, for the "PNAC/MIC". What do those paychecks look like? *please answer*

And when you answer these questions above, you'll be a step closer to finally answering the question I will now rephrase: What other reason would there be for you to consistently post links to neo-Nazis, fascist organizations, and white supremacists, other than that you are in fact in agreement with that world view, and have a neo-Nazi-type agenda in doing so?

nothing says "respected, patriotic American" like a Laffer-acolyte Reganite who believes Sandy Hook, the Charlie Hebdo and Bataclan terrorists attacks were staged; that Osama bin Laden was the US government's 9/11 patsy in a MIHOP conspiracy; and believes we need to return to gold-backed currency.

Roberts is the bastard offspring of Ron Paul and a 9/11 truther...he's beyond deranged.

Both the Russian and American military are still based on mutual assured destruction. China can go it alone they have no friends.

Arms merchants are always looking for demand for their products in a world that cannot afford them.
