Update 06/21/16: The clock is counting down to July 1, when Vermont's mandatory GMO labeling law goes into effect. Please take action now, even if you have before.

Monsanto's Dream Bill, aka the DARK Act (S. 2609) would ban states from requiring labeling of genetically engineered foods (GMOs).

Your tens of thousands of calls and emails have held back Monsanto so far this year— but they are desperate to pass something before July 1, 2016.

Sign below to send an email to your Senators. Personalize it to tell them why this issue is important to you!

What a travesty this isn't reported in national media.

On July 1st, Vermont's first-in-the nation GMO labeling bill will go into effect, but only if you take action today!

Right now the Senate only has 48 hours to pass their desperate Monsanto-led bill that would kill GMO labeling in the U.S. by preempting Vermont's law and replacing it with a meaningless voluntary standard or QR codes, which are discriminatory and favor the GMA and their cronies. This Friday, the House adjourns for summer recess, which means Vermont's law will stand and a Victory for us all.

But once again, Monsanto and the GMA are working around the clock in DC to convince a dozen Democrat Senators to side with the Republican majority to kill GMO labeling in the U.S. for good. They need to hear from you today!

Send a message to your Senators right now telling them to stand up for strong GMO labeling laws. Tell your Senators that states' rights to label GMOs are more important than Monsanto's toxic profits. Every voice counts!

Rather than 4 simple words - "Produced with Genetic Engineering" appearing on food packages in the U.S., like they already do in 64 other countries - Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) want to help Monsanto continue to hide this basic information from the American public by forcing consumers to scan a QR code to find out if that food actually contains GMOs.

Despite the fact that more than 90% of Americans want GMO labeling, this handful of Senators are fighting to come up with a number of lame, alternative labeling options such as QR codes or even 1-800 numbers on food packages. This corrupts the very heart and intent of what it means to have the "Right to Know" what's in our food - and these Senators know it.

If you have 30 seconds today, make a Call to your Senators and ask them WHO they work for? America's citizens or Monsanto? Your calls today will make a difference!

We need to flood their phone lines to make sure they hear loud and clear!

It's absolutely CRITICAL that all of us make calls NOW to your Senators urging them to stand up for mandatory GMO labeling and DEFEND VERMONT's HISTORIC GMO LABELING LAW.

Here's what your Senators need to hear from you:

They MUST OPPOSE any proposal that would preempt states' rights and Vermont's landmark GMO Labeling bill.

Any national GMO Labeling program:

MUST not preempt established state GMO labeling laws
MUST be mandatory
MUST require on-package labeling
MUST display the words "Produced With Genetic Engineering"

If your Senator is not listed on this image, you need to call them today to make sure they stand up for MANDATORY, on-package GMO labeling!

What a travesty if this goes down and isn't vetoed.

OCA email:

Today, our “leaders” in the U.S. Senate proudly announced that they’ve “reached a deal” on a federal GMO labeling bill. No matter how they spin it—and they will spin it—this “compromise” is nothing more than a handout to Monsanto, an industry-brokered deal intended to legally sanction the right of corporations to deceive you, the consumer.

Today, the U.S. Senate unveiled a bill that, if passed, will overturn Vermont’s mandatory GMO labeling law, and replace it with an anti-consumer bill that allows food corporations to hide GMOs behind QR barcodes and toll-free phone numbers—and gives them another two years before they even have to pretend they are labeling.

What does this news mean for Vermont’s mandatory labeling law? Vermont's law will still take effect on July 1, because Congress has run out of time to get the bill passed by both the House and Senate, and plop it down on President Obama’s desk.

But once Congress returns after the July 4 recess, you can bet... Congress will make it their highest priority to seal the deal on an industry-friendly, anti-consumer, anti-states' rights federal law that will overturn Vermont's law and leave U.S. consumers in the dark.

With your help, we will once again throw ourselves into the battle to save Vermont’s law. To demand the right to truth and transparency in labeling. To remind our members of Congress that they were elected to serve us, not their corporate masters.

We will work to keep the Senate from getting the 60 votes it needs to pass the bill. We will recruit pro-labeling Senators to filibuster, if we have to. We will take our—your—fight to the oval office, and if necessary, we will launch a massive boycott of any food product that isn't labeled organic, grass-fed or non-GMO.
