Keith Ellisons coronation as DNC Chair is over

good point by Cillizza (who I don't always agree with)

In 2010, Ellison gave a speech at a fundraiser hosted by a past president of the Muslim American Society. In it, he says he wants the “U.S. to be friends with Israel” but adds: “We can't allow another country to treat us like we're their ATM.” Then he said this:

The United States foreign policy in the Middle East is governed by what is good or bad through a country of 7 million people. A region of 350 million all turns on a country of 7 million. Does that make sense? Is that logic? Right? When the Americans who trace their roots back to those 350 million get involved, everything changes.

The Anti-Defamation League quickly condemned those views as “both deeply disturbing and disqualifying.” Haim Saban, a major Israeli American Democratic donor, said Friday that Ellison was “clearly an anti-Semite and anti-Israel individual,” adding that having the congressman as DNC chair “would be a disaster for the relationship between the Jewish community and the Democratic Party.”

Strong words — particularly when you consider that the Jewish community is not only one of the most reliable voting blocs in the Democratic base but also one of the party's disproportionately large fundraising sources.

And Cillizza's one of those in the media that helped to NORMALIZE tRump, and now he's talking about coronations and about what Ellison said, when HE helped to make tRump a KING who he and the media gives a pass to because their KING can pretty much say and DO anything he wants to do, and SAY pretty much anything also.

ALL of these "so-called" journalists and Cilizza can kiss my behind.

he's basically admitting he said the stuff. He's not much better than Bannon, if at all.

Also, just say there where a Democrat who said things many blacks found very objectionable. Seeing as they're another important voting bloc, wouldn't such a DNC chair nominee get blocked? Why not someone who insults another know and established Democratic bloc?

And selling a political message of "The Jewish cabal runs US foreign policy" is far worse than some comment to an ex spouse.

Is antiSemitism bad, or is it only bad when a person from the wrong party holds such views?

Ok, I don't want Ellison as DNC chair simply because we need a FULL time chair, not a sitting Congressman with lots of other things to focus on.

But damn! You really fanning those artificial embers hoping for flames!

Led by Abe Foxman, who gave Mel Gibson's The Passion of The Christ more publicity than a thousand Hollywood agents and helped it become the top-grossing film of its year? Is that the genius you're talking about?

I have met Keith Ellison both at the National Convention and a local fundraiser and I like him. However I do not want him to be DNC chair. The next DNC chair needs to be a full time position and to be someone one not associated with Sanders

of politics, its in the Democratic Party (and the country's) best interest not to let the GOP become a megalith around the country by ceding the Jewish vote. Plus, how would people like you and others react if you guys were promoting a potential DNC chair who said arguably racist stuff about blacks or Hispanics?

No one is ever draining the DC "swamp" of money, not Trump, and Sanders certainly would not have either. Especially given how much he and Jane love that new summer home or their SuperPACs.

Remember, Jews in the UK and Canada used to vote for the center-left parties until 2-4 years ago, when the anti-Zionist stuff hit a critical mass. Given Brexit, Trump, and the Italian referendum, those who would upset this should be careful.

We've had many candidates I've supported say arguably racist stuff about blacks and they didn't pay a price. See Bill's Sister Soulja moment or Bernie shouting "I said black fifty times", or Obama having to distance himself from Rev wright.

Also, Cillizza has shown he play fast and loose with fact and in this case didn't even bother to verify the recording wasn't edited.

Middle East. To that you have to be able to deal with the Arab countries to determine how to resolve the underlying problems that result in the development of numerous terrorist groups over the years. We have literally been playing whack a mole with one group after another. All that happens is that a new group raises up. That is not a long term solution and only continues to feed the MIC. Just how long do you propose that we play whack a mole to the detriment of so many people caught in the middle between the terrorist group of the moment and western countries aerial assaults? It is not productive and it is a complete waste of resources.

Considering that it is first world countries playing whack a mole it seems like the other side has been much more successful then us. They have countries all over the world panicking over refugees. They have watched the erosion of civil liberties and constitutional rights in the US (Patriot Act, Surveillance on our own people, MSM more interested in serving the Corporate Overlords then serving up actual news, foreign intervention in American elections, and so on). The other side really doesn't have to do anything more because they showed us the boogie man and the Republicans/Uber Right have taken over shouting boogie man to scare the masses.
