CONWAY: Wow. People are really bold on Twitter. We have a Democratic congressman referring to the next president of the United States as not that smart? I think that's unfortunate. He should rethink that. At the same time, the president-elect has access to all types of information and avails himself of that including the intelligence briefings. I don't have a top-secret clearance. Neither does Adam Schiff, certainly. Neither do people watching right now. They don't know exactly what he's receiving. Anybody who says otherwise, again, Anderson, is leaking information.

So much here.

Adam Schiff is the Ranking Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Members of Congress do not get traditional security clearances. They have access as members of Congress, though I think this has been denied in a few rare instances. Certain information is shared only with chairs and ranking members of intelligence related committees. Botton line: as ranking member of the House Committee which oversees the entire intelligence community, Schiff has about as much access as anyone can.

It's all inconsequential in a way, just one more random nonsensical remark. But it shows the casual disregard for the truth or even basic commonsense that is pervasive with all of the President-Elect's leading sycophants. And of course, let's be honest, the President-Elect himself. It's a culture of casual lying and nonsense. It's an empire of word salad.

and very disturbing. I think that the genesis of this Reagan's decision to abolish the Fairness Doctrine, requiring any media using public airwaves both to provide balance in their news coverage and to tell the truth, as far as they could ascertain it. The repudiation of that doctrine led to Rush Limbaugh, and others of his ilk, and it has been downhill all the way since then. Combine that with the corporate consolidation of the media, and here we are.
