Dont Take Anything Trumps Lawyers Say About His Tax Returns Seriously
Anything except releasing the documents falls short.
By Paul Blumenthal , Ben Walsh
President Donald Trumps tax lawyers issued a statement on Friday that the White House wants you to take seriously: The president has not received income or taken on any debt or equity from Russian sources over the past 10 years, with a few exceptions.
This is not how you construct a credible statement about someones finances, let alone a sitting president of the United States.
With few exceptions is such an obvious out that it can barely even be called a loophole ― it simply and openly invalidates the denial that precedes it.
Trump has a history of emphatically denying that he has any monetary connection to Russia. In January, he tweeted: NOTHING TO DO WITH RUSSIA - NO DEALS, NO LOANS, NO NOTHING! His lawyers new admission of the few exceptions indicates this blanket denial was false. The letter written by Sherri Dillon and Willie Nelson, Trumps tax lawyers at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, is dated March 8.

This is a bizarre attempt to substitute a prepared communication for public disclosure, which is insufficient for both urgent investigation and repairing the public trust, John Wonderlich, executive director of the pro-transparency Sunlight Foundation, told HuffPost.

(1,007 posts)Probably not and if he is found guilty of money laundering, all of his Trump towers, real estate, companies, and etc will probably be enough for the government to pay for the damm wall with Mexico.....
Also, maybe Dump's increased frustration and hysteria this week is caused by his fear that all of his holdings could be confiscated if any charges are brought against him. Why else would he become so additionally anxious and fearful? Why is he trying so hard to shut down the investigation? Follow the money....

(9,688 posts)that Trump said that he "might" release his tax returns, but only after he leaves office.
Patriots willing, he will be leaving office soon.
Then perhaps, during whatever criminal trial he is sure to face, or perhaps during impeachment, prosecutors can force him to finally release those returns. At this point, I can't imagine that he will ever release them voluntarily.

(2,959 posts)I can't believe so-called serious journalists and media out lets put up with this crap. Is almost like they were trying to distract the public and provide cover for criminal actions.
