During the campaign, I had reread the Sinclair Lewis novel It Cant Happen Here, about a right-wing presidential victory, Mares recalls. Little did I expect that this book, written and set in Vermont in 1935, would be so prescient.
Unable to march in protests while on the mend, the co-author of the states all-time best-selling humor book (1983s Real Vermonters Dont Milk Goats) commiserated with friend and syndicated political cartoonist Jeff Danziger..."

Trumps narcissism is enough to make any self-respecting Vermonters toes curl. The Full Vermonty is THE guide for finding ways to stay sane. The authors advice? Overcome Trump-Induced Anxiety Disorder by eating kale and drinking craft beer. Find your moral compass, if you lost it. Dont watch CNN, do something radicalread a book. Become an activist. But whatever you do, BE a Vermonter; stay feisty and independent. Anne Galloway, VTDigger.org

The stress of seeing his ugly mug on my TV screen and even hearing his name is not good for my mental and physical health, so I take my news stories in little doses and mostly online from DU. I'm enjoying my days and I refuse to let this disaster impact my personal life. I really am hopeful that 2018 will see a sea change in the direction our country.
