They will never abandon Trump. Their perspective was perhaps best – or at least most memorably – articulated by the Trump supporter in a recent CNN 'focus group,' as follows: 'If Jesus Christ gets down off the cross and told me Trump is with Russia, I would tell him, hold on a second, I need to check with the president if it is true. then they better fuckin' vote. I get sick of seeing how few people vote.

Back in the 1980's my brother moved into a new home with his young family. I kept telling him to register to vote. He was only a few miles from the courthouse, and he could have found a deputy registrar very easily. I no longer lived close to him, so I did not know his precinct committeeman or registrars. I kept nagging him. He had plenty of time.

As it turned out, he did not register to vote in time to vote for Carter, or against Reagan, however you would have it. He did not vote for any of his local Democrats.

Whenever he complained to me about Reagan or any other politicians, I told him that I did not want to hear it. Anyone who had the right to vote and did not vote should not complain.
