government in our country. In Germany, it also applies against private entities such as employers. At least it did back in 1997 when I researched it.

So this is a very interesting development. The free speech law in Germany does not protect certain speech such as NAZI speech. At least it didn't when I researched this issue.

yelling "fire" in a crowded nation for seditious purposes. Glad to see this. Sad that we have to follow other nations, but an advantage is that we'll get to observe what is working and why.

We have a nation to protect from those who would set it afire for the purpose of destroying government of, by and for the people. A narrow, careful line, but one that's absolutely necessary to draw if we are to save what we inherited.

down to the fact they don't want to pay for monitors ... but I think some would do it for free. I'm not familiar with FB and have never used it or Twitter, nor will I. I think the way DU handles this is outstanding!!!

They are well informed as to the "Never Again" meme.
It is personal & they are correct.

Not just Germany but many European countries existing in close proximity to Putin.

Our European allies have kept close watch on this situation & have some outstanding Intel gathering of their own.
Containing Putin & fascism became a global effort a long time ago.

15. Nazism certainly had hate speech.

It also had government censorship, where one of Goebbels' crew decided what was appropriate and allowable and what wasn't.

So while we have "never again" we also have, "may I have another serving, sir?"

Because the last thing a government can do is allow its free citizens too much freedom.

(And there's the rub: finding a balance between control and liberty, and between trusting citizens to marginalize some groups on their own as long as they're not actively assaulting others.)

platform. The bio-metrics of members is as important as the member. They sell this information and they need more members, cutting any goes against their business model.

I love it here on DU and I avoid FB like the plague. I only belong because my daughters post pictures and stories about my grandchildren there. My FB page consists of a fake name and photo only. The only info FB has on me is my location, my interest in two other FB accounts in two other locations.
