Drone Reveals Auschwitz Inner Horrors

The BBC flew a drone over the Auschwitz Birkenau concentration camp and brought back some chilling footage displaying the enormity of the camp today, well over seventy years after it was liberated by the Soviet Union. The German death camp in Poland is now maintained and considered a World Heritage Site and a popular tourist destination for the thousands of tourists, as well as survivors, who visit it every single year.

The largest concentration camp constructed during the Second World War by the Nazis, Auschwitz has the dubious reputation of being the site of what is reputed to be 1.1 million murders between when it was built in 1940, and when it was liberated by the Soviets in 1945

the video is so chilling reminding one of the evil that occurred in those walls. How they got the place built in that period of time is amazing. I'm not sure I could visit a place where such atrocities beyond anyone's imagination took place against their fellow man. I would forever be haunted by the experience.

...the preferred financial institution of strongmen, dictators, and despots for over 75 years.

https://www.nytimes.com/1999/02/05/news/deutsche-bank-linked-to-auschwitz-funding.html

FRANKFURT— Historians combing through Deutsche Bank AG archives have found evidence that the biggest German bank helped finance construction of the Auschwitz death camp, the chief historian of the bank said Thursday.

Manfred Pohl, director of the bank's historical institute, said it was the first time that Deutsche Bank had been linked to the financing of companies that built the Nazi death camp. Other recently unearthed documents showed that the bank serviced accounts for the Gestapo, the Nazi secret police, which deposited proceeds from auctions of property confiscated from deported Jews, he said.

Mr. Pohl said the bank's archivists had found detailed loan records to construction companies that built facilities for "Waffen-SS Auschwitz," the camp's security police. They also found records of loans by Deutsche Bank to companies for the construction of the IG Farben chemicals plant adjacent to Auschwitz.

Biggest German Bank Admits and Regrets Dealing in Nazi Gold

https://www.nytimes.com/1998/08/01/world/biggest-german-bank-admits-and-regrets-dealing-in-nazi-gold.html

Germany's biggest bank, Deutsche Bank AG, acknowledged yesterday that it had dealt in Nazi gold during World War II and said it ''regrets most deeply injustices that occurred.'' But it declined to say whether its wartime officials knew that some of the gold might have come from concentration camp victims.

The publication yesterday of a historian's report commissioned by the bank, and the bank's response to it, seem certain to strengthen, and possibly expand, a class-action suit brought by lawyers in New York on behalf of Holocaust survivors against both Deutsche Bank and Dresdner Bank. Both banks have long been regarded by other historians as having played key roles in the financing of the Nazi war effort.

I thought today about how much of this history is revised and denied.

And we're in the middle of history repeating itself with the rise of neo-fascism.

The NYtimes did a survey a lil while ago showing how the Holocaust is fading from memory. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/12/us/holocaust-education.html A depressing read.

...the more we as a people forget the Holocaust, the closer we get to it happening again. And unfortunately, we are a lot closer than any of us would like to think.

the rise of neo-fascism in European democracies right now..

But some of the worst anti-semitism I've seen is in geek /gamer culture.

Just follow 4chan, gamer forums, where women, gays, minorities, Jews are in the crosshairs of trolls. Often these trolls are just apolitical nihilists who enjoy the chaos of spreading hate. And they aren't poor young men, but educated young white males.

Then there's the coded language which frames jews as controlling all the wealth in the world, controlling the media- and so on and so on.

history repeating.
