Protests in Oklahoma
Native Americans and Japanese Americans were among the hundreds of people who gathered in Lawton, Oklahoma, on Saturday to protest the Trump administrations plan to use Fort Sill, which was a Japanese American internment camp in World War II, to detain undocumented migrant children.
We will not allow history to repeat itself with a concentration camp for immigrant children, said Brenda Lozano, program development coordinator at Dream Action Oklahoma, in a statement. Generations of Japanese, Native American, and Black people have all been hurt by Fort Sill.

(2,012 posts)many years ago. It is truly a concentration camp. Thousands of Native American tribes were killed in the Indian Wars and many were imprisoned for years there, including the Apache and the great chief Geronimo. Hundreds of Japanese-Americans were imprisoned there during WW2 and in recent years it has housed more than 1000 migrant children. All of us should be so ashamed of what our country is doing and how our tax money is being used to keep this military base open.
