I think we stand a chance to beat him, but we'll have to dig ourselves out of a deep, deep hole when he's gone. Some of us never will: The children ripped from their mothers' arms at the border, the voters who will go to the polls and be turned away, the poor who will go hungry when their food stamps are cut, the land and water and air that will be despoiled, the species that will go extinct, the companies that will fail, the women whose health clinics will close, the hopes that will be dashed and gone away forever.

First, spare me the invectives about how crazy, stupid, etc., he is. On some levels I will agree but computer viruses can have silly names, too.

Trump is, in effect, a reality hacker. Much of this would not be happening if he didn't have a skill for that. For instance, using Gone With The Wind was a potent way to imply something about his ulterior motives for this country and our system without being too overt. It was a reality hacking sandwich that he tossed out.

Trump is not only a reality hacker, but he is the virus itself. I contend that he has infected our system and it is spreading constantly with no checksum or verifications. Our previous, tried and true, "anti-virus" that uses the three branches and checks and balances are not proving to be a good firewall or anti-virus anymore. If we learn anything from this, should we not succumb totally to this infection and crash hard, that may be it.

These are times of change and so our conventions are being challenged in numerous ways. While grifter, con man, reality TV actor, etc., were appropriate terms and still apply, they don't seem to grasp the totality of this breech.

That metaphor works for me. We could say that our system was already corrupted by GOP politics, but they were just doing the phising and groundwork for the human virus to plant itself in our operating system.

We may need a reboot and some important updates once we apply the proper code to this scheme/scam/breech. We can't rely on backups.

Maybe different perspectives can give us a fresh look at it. Sometimes, repetition and media can dull our way of seeing things.

the below passage is interesting considering I just ordered a book by Heather Cox Richardson to be out soon...

How the South Won the Civil War: Oligarchy, Democracy, and the Continuing Fight for the Soul of America

"With William Barr at the Justice Department and Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court and Senate Republicans voting in lockstep with Mitch McConnell, living in Donald Trump's America feels like the South won the Civil War. If we don't get our shit together and drive him from office at the ballot box in November, we'll lose this one, too"
