Trump on the coronavirus pandemic is a torrent of contradictory words

Donald Trump has hogged the stage, usually with a backdrop of experts or kowtowing business leaders, at daily briefings on the novel coronavirus pandemic. Prior to the virus, he had rarely set foot in the White House Briefing Room.

It's a good time, with 90% of Americans now under stay-at-home orders, to watch what the 45th president has been saying as the coronavirus has crossed oceans, and infected more people in America than any other nation.

-- Jan. 22, a day after the first case of virus was discovered in this Washington, Trump answered a reporter's question: "We have it totally under control. It's one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It's -- going to be just fine."

--"We pretty much shut it down coming in from China." -- Trump in an interview with Sean Hannity of Fox News, Feb. 2.
