Close to 70 countries supports UN call for an immediate global ceasefire

Close to 70 countries has joined the UN call for an immediate global ceasefire, inclusive big European NATO countries as Germany and France - plus these countries engaged in armed conflict: Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Libya, Myanmar, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine and Yemen.

The United States is not on the lists, but The U.S. National Security Council has stated that: "The United States hopes that all parties in Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, and elsewhere will heed the call of António Guterres. Now is the time for peace and cooperation."

Despite the many good declarations, neither Russia nor the United States appear to be acting on the words hemselves - and this is sadly also true for other major players such as Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, who have not joined as supporters.
