James Comey: We know what good leadership in a crisis looks like. This isn't it.

The Queen of England recently spoke to her people about the novel coronavirus pandemic and offered a master class in leadership.

She was calm, dignified, and above all, candid about the present, yet optimistic about the future. These are very hard times, she said, but we have been through hard times together in the past, and we will be okay if we unite around the values that have long sustained us.

“Using the great advances of science and our instinctive compassion to heal, we will succeed, and that success will belong to every one of us. We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return. We will be with our friends again. We will be with our families again. We will meet again.”

People crave leadership when they are afraid. But leading well during a crisis does not mean “faking it so people don’t freak out.” It doesn’t mean promising people all will be fine or lecturing them for being frightened.

It is just unfortunate that we have another traitor as attorney general, William Barr, who protected Trump.

and acts like he's a stand up guy, I want to scream. He is at least partially responsible for this and he has NO RIGHT to act like he's the voice of reason. I seeth with fury when he opens his mouth. I joined Twitter partially to tell him how horrible he is to his "face."

Republicans invented crisis by claiming that maybe there was a needle of important classified information in a haystack of Hillary emails.

After many investigations through the haystack, they found no needle.

Then, right before the election, comey felt the entire national discourse needed to focus on a possible bit of new potential evidence, a new bit of hay had been found, that might maybe hold the elusive needle that they had no reason to think ever even existed in the first place, but nevertheless should be searched.

Turns out not only was there no needle, but it wasn't even new hay, it was just a picture of the same old hay. But "real leadership" required breaking the rules to focus national attention on this.

That's right, he broke standing policy to call national attention to this. Speaking about a case under investigation, and about something that would obviously affect an election within days of the election.

Needs to sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up.

There are only two occasions I would care to hear his name mentioned.

If he were to make an effort to assassinate the cheap thug he put in office.

If he were to fellate a twelve-gauge and touch his toe to the trigger.
