Portland nursing home reports 14 coronavirus deaths after state finds slew of violations

My Aunt Alice, for whom I am power of attorney, was in this facility. She passed last night from Covid 19.

Workers at a Southeast Portland nursing home that has now reported 14 coronavirus deaths failed to wash their hands, did not use protective masks properly and weren’t trained on how to control the spread of infection, the state said Thursday.

Healthcare at Foster Creek is now the site of the largest known cluster of coronavirus cases and deaths in the state, with 50 confirmed cases among residents and staff.

The Department of Human Services inspected the nursing home last Friday, two weeks after the facility’s first diagnosed cases and the same day that The Oregonian/OregonLive reported that 10 Foster Creek residents with the virus had died.

In the state’s findings, a slew of violations pointed to the overarching failure to ensure that the coronavirus would not spread from resident to resident. <snip>

It shouldn't take something like this to shine a light on the problems with some nursing homes.

I have to wonder which repuke owns this facility?

I hope you sue their asses off, own the place & make it fit for human habitation for elders.

May you find comfort and peace.

Including their training records, at a minimum.

So sorry to hear you lost someone you cared for because of this.
