When Trump cultists and various tea-party types took to the streets in Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Kentucky to protest the Covoid-19 lockdowns that are designed to keep us safe, I flashed on some stray lyrics written by virus victim John Prine:

“The dark and distant drumming / The pounding of the hooves… / The coming of the caravan of fools.”

And what fools they are – a subspecies of human known as ignoramus Americanus – parading in their MAGA caps, storming state houses, blocking traffic so badly that an ambulance couldn’t get through (that says it all). This was surely inevitable – given the fact that many Americans insist on the unbridled “freedom” to do whatever they want regardless of the consequences to others; that Fox News on a daily basis pumps sewage into their heads; that a fake president lies and dithers and disrespects science – and we’re likely to see this backlash metastasize.

Melissa Ackinson, a conservative Ohio state Senate candidate, joined the protest in her state capital and brought her 10-year-old son. She denounced her state’s stay-at-home order as government overreach. (Ohio’s governor, who issued the order to safeguard public health, is a Republican.) She said that the order “enrages something inside of you.” She said she has “no fear whatsoever” of getting the virus, and she dismissed it as hype.

Seriously, what is wrong with these people?

Abbott in Tx will regret his actions when it explodes more on him. More trump and republican failures with this health crisis. They are coning people into believing profits are better than a life, and starving people with holding needed payouts to the people and small businesses. Other countries , like Canada are giving people $2000 a month to weather this virus storm, while trump and republicans are forcing people to work early knowing they could get infected, and they funnel billions into millionaires and their pockets over us. trumps putting trump first , and could care less about your health. This will get a lot worse , and trump is the reason why it will worsen.

stories and these idiots who are openly protesting (for what, in reality)? To go join others in a crowded venue somewhere where you really don't know who's infected or who's not? Would you want to work w/ such a person or have drinks in the same bar w/ such a person?

I laugh when I read that the 'conservatives' has elected themselves a candidate (or better yet, someone who claimed this title all by herself, no one else gave the title to her) who willingly put her 10 year child at risk, in defying the republican governor's stay at home order, calling it hype. Some conservative.

rump is obviously mad, that the governors have all of the power and he doesn't, thus, he is pathetically lashing out using his idiotic thugs to do the dirty deed and thus triggered the protesters in various states (he's too much of a coward, hiding behind his cell phone texts).

Cuomo is right, rump is doing nothing to help during this situation other than constantly ranting and raving. How much time does rump spend in texting and/or watching TV? I suspect far too much, no wonder he's had so many bankruptcies.

I'm glad that the states stood up to rump and said loudly, NO, you do NOT have the power. He doesn't.

9. Madison WI rally on 4.24

Since Gov. Evers extended Wisconsin's Safer at Home order a few days ago until the day after Memorial Day, the right wing loonies are being more vocal and a rally is planned in Madison next Friday. More stupidity on display, it's... almost... enough to make one speechless. Expect Confederate flags, swastikas and lots of MAGA paraphernalia, and a rise in the Covid-19 rate amongst attendees afterwards. I should feel sorry for them but I don't and I hope they huddle together for lots of group pictures.
