Why are Americans so servile to a clown president?

Why are Americans so servile to a clown president?
OPINION 11:30 AM BY HEATHER MALLICK TORONTO STAR

Why are Americans so obedient, so servile? That isn’t the image they hope to show the world but there they are, a herd of sheep in Trump’s presence, baaa-ing approvingly.

“Everybody feels the evil, but no one has courage or energy enough to seek the cure,” Alexis de Tocqueville wrote of Americans in 1830. Again, why?

Donald Trump stumps up to the podium every day and makes a fool of himself. He spouts nonsense for hours thus replicating his now-dead campaign rallies, lying, talking nonsense, insulting women, shouting at men, threatening to fire government staff for disagreeing with him, planning vengeance on Democratic governors, pronouncing words wrong and adding numbers incorrectly, sending crude racist remarks over to China, and making his terror and neediness plain.

“Look at me,” he says, the way toddlers do when they step over the kitten rather then squashing it, “I did it!” ........(more)

They totally glossed over his theft from vendors, bankruptcies, broken contracts, and mob connections. Because they did so, the creature was able to convince his followers that any negative story was fake. They didn't do their job then, they could be doing it better now. Why is no one at his daily presser asking about PPE hijacked by the federal government and where it's going? His daily broadcast rallies are good for only one thing: exposing his insane, incompetent criminality.

I am not servile to the Dumpster.

Nope.

I know a lot of people who are not servile to the Dump.

Unfortunately, he has a base, around 1/3 of the population that are willfully ignorant. Fact.

They shout loud and get away with a lot of bullshit because they are predominately white and privileged.

Rude, ignorant assholes. Other than that gripe, it was a fun read...I just added the word "some" before American each time it was used.

The only truly "servile" part of the equation I see is the Republican party's willingness to go all in on a Trump administration. And the reasons for that have been explained fairly extensively in purely political calculations (deregulation, supreme court, religious right, etc.)

The "cult" of Trump .. is still a fairly small minority. And (IMO) doesn't describe the larger body politic at all.
