It's not Hannity most folks are trusting news to
By Margaret Sullivan / The Washington Post
NEW YORK I asked a media-savvy friend recently to guess what is the most-watched program on TV right now.
Hannitys show? she offered.
Its World News Tonight on ABC, I told her. You know, with David Muir?
A blank look followed.
Its true. As news-hungry viewers seek credible information on the coronavirus pandemic, the ratings for ABCs weeknight newscast is not only beating the likes of Sean Hannity on Fox News but also favorites like The Voice, NCIS and 60 Minutes.
The other evening news programs anchored by NBCs Lester Holt and CBSs Norah ODonnell are also on a roll.
These tightly edited, half-hour broadcasts distill the days events, at times providing an austere contrast to President Trumps daily briefings, which are often airing simultaneously elsewhere.
The answer to the anxiety people are feeling isnt to deliver a portrait that is rosier than reality, Muir told me this week.

Good that its not Hannity of course, but I hope ABCs doing a responsible job. In studies of the three broadcast networks, ABCs was the most conservative leaning. And conservative media grow their audiences by growing fear.
Of course, fair is appropriate at this time.
