Trump is the Mad King sent to teach the world a lesson
Thomas Keneally is an Australian author who wrote Schindler's Ark (which became the movie Schindler's List)
Now, as in Greek plays, the gods are listening to all our palaver. As frequently in the past, they choose a Mad King as a lesson of where post-truth can lead you. For whatever your politics, when the virus strikes, it cannot be persuaded or nuanced out of existence. "We'll show you post-truth!" the gods chorus "we'll give you something you can't handle by conjuring and appeals to fear."
So the Mad King begins by claiming the Democrats and the press tried "to inflame the coronavirus situation, far beyond what the facts would warrant". But then, he declares soon after, "I thought it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic." Then, he tells his populace that they are about to be delivered by drugs called chloroquine and hydroxy-chloroquine. When doctors such as Anthony Fauci warn him these are not tested yet, and are not a cure but part of potential treatment, he says, "I disagree. I feel good about it ... I'm a smart guy. I've been right a lot."
