Beyond D.C., GOP officials see Trump on glide path to reelection.

((View from repugs today, for our info.))

'Conventional indicators suggest the president’s bid for a second term is in jeopardy. But state and local GOP officials see a different election unfolding.

Interviews with more than 50 state, district and county Republican Party chairs depict a version of the electoral landscape that is no worse for Trump than six months ago — and possibly even slightly better. According to this view, the coronavirus is on its way out and the economy is coming back. Polls are unreliable, Joe Biden is too frail to last, and the media still doesn’t get it.

“The more bad things happen in the country, it just solidifies support for Trump,” said Phillip Stephens, GOP chairman in Robeson County, N.C., one of several rural counties in that swing state that shifted from supporting Barack Obama in 2012 to Trump in 2016. “We’re calling him ‘Teflon Trump.’ Nothing’s going to stick, because if anything, it’s getting more exciting than it was in 2016.”

This year, Stephens said, “We’re thinking landslide.”

Five months before the election, many state and county Republican Party chairs predict a close election. Yet from the Eastern seaboard to the West Coast and the battlegrounds in between, there is an overriding belief that, just as Trump defied political gravity four years ago, there’s no reason he won’t do it again.

Andrew Hitt, the state party chairman in Wisconsin, said that during the height of public attention on the coronavirus, in late March and early April, internal polling suggested “some sagging off where we wanted to be.”

But now, he said, “Things are coming right back where we want them … That focus on the economy and on re-opening and bringing America back is resonating with people.”'>>>

Now is not the time for us to relax. We need to have the biggest turnout ever this November.

convinced that they believe any of this malarkey. Based on the past 4 years, I have no reason to believe that this isn’t an orchestrated GOP messaging strategy designed to grease the skids for media and ultimately public acceptance of another stolen election. In essence, a rendition before the fact. I have no reason to believe they are not doing everything they can right now to steal the election regardless of the actual votes, the actual outcome -- which far more likely would be a Biden landslide than tRump They know they have to manipulate the actual vote count in every single State that has any possibility at all of going Trump/Republican in order to ensure their theft. They already know what they are doing to steal the election — what, where and how. What better way to condition the public for a successful theft in many States than to be talking landslide now.

They are untrustworthy vipers — Machiavellian to the nth degree. We must to do everything we can to guard our election mechanics to ensure legitimacy. How and what are we as a party doing in this regard? Does anyone know? Do we have a comprehensive nationwide strategy in place? Is it staffed? Funded?

This stuff has me worried.

in the ways that we have seen in IA, GA and WI.

If so, without any counteractions, their landslide predictions may be accurate.

I don't know what will happen between now and November, but let's not forget a lot of GOP flacks were absolutely sure they'd overwhelm the senate and the house in the midterms. Either they're getting high on their own supply, or they already know how they're going to cheat.

GOP is spinning alternate narrative mountains of hot air to keep the Heinous Anus of 1600 Pennsylvania Nutjob from his 19th nervous breakdown, a degenerative process that can only be slowed by the enormous and erect nostrils of an uncaring Melanie.

Then again, I was sure in late Oct. '16 that there was no way Trump could win, so I hung up my prophet's cap a while back.

In my state nearly all of the Republican party officials were replaced with strident Trump supporters. Anyone who wasn't loyal was asked to step down or was forced out. The remains are all (delusional) Trump loyalists. They dwell in some twilight zone where their leader is always right and his problems are all caused by caustic liberals and false media narratives. The kool-aid sits on the table and they're lined up reading to take it by the gallons.
