Republicans are warning that tyranny is on its way

Republicans are getting very worried about what might happen if Democrats win big this November. The polls look bad for President Trump, Democrats enjoy a lead in the battle for the House as big as the one just before the 2018 blowout, and the GOP’s Senate majority looks increasingly imperiled.

Faced with that kind of situation, some are spending less time arguing that their policy preferences are superior to Democrats’ policy preferences, and have instead gone to apocalyptic predictions of catastrophe should the Democrats take control. Here’s a striking one from conservative writer Rod Dreher:

You can smell the panic. And he’s not alone.

If your memory stretches all the way back to 2009, that kind of thing may sound familiar. When Barack Obama — a center-left president who spent years trying to win Republican support for his agenda — took office, many on the right absolutely lost their minds with fantasies of oppression and dictatorship.

Republicans said over and over again that Obama was a “tyrant,” when all that was happening was that he was enacting the policies he ran on. As Jon Stewart said in April 2009 after running through a litany of conservatives decrying Obama’s tyranny, “I think you might be confusing tyranny with losing."

“When the guy that you disagree with gets elected, he’s probably going to do things you disagree with,” Stewart continued. “Now you’re in the minority. It’s supposed to taste like a s--t taco.”

have been saying that for years, since W, and before the election 2016, some were saying they think the idiot will win because Russia was involved.

Lock him up.

Churches will be destroyed, preachers will be killed, christians jailed

Evangelical preachers, televangelists are preaching that this election is a Holy War of Satan/demons (democrats) attacking god (Trump has been chosen by god to save America)

Millions are hearing this call to divine warfare 24/7 in church and on tv.

Theyvoted 80% for Trump in 2016 and helped elect him. They are being told they MUST get et veryone they know to vote for him

Some are probably hearing the Bible passage 'go out into the highways and byways and compel them' This was preached regarding the banquet Jesus/god prepared for the lost but.....

But I sure grow weary of the apocalyptic dire predictions which never come to pass. These boys cry wolf over and over and over. Fortunately overall church attendance is declining, and after the embarrassing acts of fealty they have shown to a horribly immoral person, i predict attendance will decline further. Yea!!

It is running the show, and running it into the ground. It is designed to bring in ad revenue. It can't keep suckers tuned in with long diatribes about tax policy. Each new on-air idiot has to out hyperbole the last one. That's how you go from Vince Foster was "probably murdered" to "murdered" to "Hillary pulled the trigger".

Where was the tyranny there? Or with Jimmy Carter or Obama.

These people are beyond delusional and reactionary.

Amazing what 30 plus years of right wing Radio and TV can do....all enabled by Reagan.
