What the Hell Is Kanye West's Campaign About?
https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/08/what-the-hell-is-kanye-wests-campaign-about.html"The campaign is not serious, but its not a joke, either. It has aspects of both a vanity project and a Republican ratfucking operation, but not fully either. Instead, it is an entirely original creation, previously unknown to science."
"The candidates public participation in his own presidential campaign has consisted of one bizarre campaign rally, two interviews with Forbes, and some tweets. Other than that, West has simply signed paperwork and paid for professional signature gatherers to petition him onto the ballot."
"Much of the campaign seems to be linked to a variety of Republican operatives and activists, intent on putting West on the ballot with the belief that he will take African American votes away from Joe Biden."
"Many of Kanye Wests electors those who would cast electoral votes on his behalf if he wins their state are also active Republicans. There is polling data on West from May 2018, when he famously met with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office wearing a red Make America Great Again hat. Then, only 23 percent of Americans had a favorable opinion of him, and 53 percent had an unfavorable opinion. However, among Republicans, West broke even: 35 percent had a favorable opinion of him and 35 percent did not. By contrast, he was deeply unpopular with Democrats, 12 percent of whom had favorable opinion and 67 who did not. And it is unlikely that the events of recent days have improved his standing with Democrats."

(1,159 posts)Whereas Trump's campaign has more of a "person, man, woman, camera, tv" kind of vibe going, Kanye is working more of a "dingleberry, Noid, mullet, pickle, peacock" angle. I'd pay good money to watch them debate each other in the same padded room.

(9,650 posts)Kanye West has very serious mental health issues. I cannot understand why his family would support this 'run' in any way, shape or form. This isn't going to do him any favors when it comes to his mental health and stability.
If I were his family, I would be doing everything I could to protect him from Republicans using him. Personally, I don't like Kanye West, but I am appalled that anyone would use someone who is known to have bipolar disorder. It's absolutely shameful.

(8,572 posts)They think that putting Kanye West on the ballot will pull in black people who would have voted for Biden. Enough black people to help Comrade Dumbass win. Let that sink in. They think a black man is going to draw black voters, just because he's black, even though he's a known nutcase. It's insulting to black people IMO, but it fits they way they (the GOPers) think. I think black people and not crazy white people agree in thinking Kanye needs mental help, and the only people who will vote for Kanye are a few GOP jokers who think it will be funny. He's not going take votes away from Joe, black or white, not enough to count. Just my opinion.
