Every Trump Lie Is a Confession-- William Rivers Pitt
https://truthout.org/articles/every-trump-lie-is-a-confession/
A thousand of Trumps most avid devotees came from miles around to stuff themselves into an enclosed indoor space, where they stood packed like cattle in a high-density field, maskless almost to a person, screaming and sweating all over each other in an orgiastic celebration of the death of reason.
I picture a COVID-19 virion, its crowns bristling red, feet up and reclined on its Barcalounger after a hard day at work killing people, looking serenely over that mob of reckless idolators before leaning to a virion friend and saying, Hold my beer. We will be hearing about the medical consequences from Sunday evenings event before the calendar page turns, if the pattern holds, which it has with nearly unfailing consistency since this dismal year began.
Trumps speech was an abomination of lies, distortions, exhortations and puling complaints. In other words, it was every speech he has given at every rally since he came down the golden escalator five years ago. It was a triumph of the mundane, proof itself of the banality of evil, so boring after endless repetition that none of the networks, not even C-SPAN, bothered to broadcast it. I had to work to find the thing.
As I let the bilge tide of Trumps gibberish wash over me, however, I found myself encased in a rare moment of clarity. It is difficult to think straight when the president is ruining your country in real time at the top of his voice and right in your face. That, of course, is the entire point of the exercise. For those who have been beaten down by the Trumpian disaster porn, writes Tim Miller for The Bulwark, rallies such as this dont really make a mark any longer.

(19,366 posts)Yes Will called Obama a POS used car salesman, but as you may recall his wife was struggling with some serious health issues and the ACA failed her. As for the Jill Stein smear, that is pure fabrication. Link to where he said he was voting for Stein, or advocated anyone else to. If you cant, retract your statement.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,656 posts)in which it was reported that he had spoken in favor of Stein, but that would be hearsay, and maybe I shouldn't have relied on them. However, he definitely stated he would not vote for Clinton, both on Truthout and on DU, which is why he was banned. https://truthout.org/articles/just-a-show-the-calm-sham-of-the-dnc/

(115,656 posts)Again, I should not have relied on second-hand information but checked the archives to see if I could find an original post. I generally try to be accurate and I messed up; I certainly did not intend to post something I didn't believe was true, based on other posts I'd read. Mea culpa.

(21,311 posts)Mr. Pitt never ever voiced support for Jill Stein at any time. I've followed him for a long time. He was not a fan of Hillary and he did oppose some policies of Barack Obama, but he never supported Ms. Stein.

The Biden family trying to cash in on their political stature--says the leader of the most corrupt family racket in presidential history--check.

The whole Q-anon nonsense about the Democratic pedophile ring--says the man who wishes an accused and indicted co-conspirator in an actual sexual slave trade--double and triple check.
Accusing Vice President Biden of some kind of "cognitive decline"--says the man whose staff was so concerned about his own mental health they asked for a cognitive assessment of the President of the United States--who is himself so intellectually compromised he didn't even understand the meaning of asking for such a test--check.
It goes on and on and on.
Unless there are consequences--meaningful ones--for all this criminal behavior I don't see how this nation will recover any time in what's left of my lifetime.

(14,093 posts)Greetings, Will here. As my DU account has been suspended "pending review" for going on five years now ( 🙂 ), Ray here was kind enough to offer a chance to reply to your post.
1. "He'd called President Obama a 'piece of shit used car salesman' because he didn't like the ACA.
... is accurate. However:
"expressing support for Jill Stein"
... is epic nonsense. I was no fan of Clinton, to be sure. I wrote in Bernie Sanders in November '16, and as Clinton won my town, county and state (NH), that vote had no impact on the future. Expressed support for Jill Stein, however, is a lie.
Cheers.

(73,524 posts)It's a damned shame that Will's "temporary suspension" hasn't been lifted. It doesn't hurt him, of course, but it lessens the value of discussions on this forum. And, as the responses to this OP document, it allows for rumors and lies to become entrenched as accepted fact. But his contributions are not here, because we haven't learned the down-side to nursing old wounds, real or imagined.
