President Trump’s naked attempt to overturn a fair election — with key elements of Joe Biden’s victory vouchsafed by Republican state officials, Republican-appointed judges and even the Justice Department — has driven some Trump evangelicals to the edge of blasphemous lunacy.

“I’d be happy to die in this fight,” radio talk-show host Eric Metaxas assured Trump during a recent interview. “This is a fight for everything. God is with us. Jesus is with us in this fight for liberty.”

Elsewhere Metaxas predicted, “Trump will be inaugurated. For the high crimes of trying to throw a U.S. presidential election, many will go to jail. The swamp will be drained. And Lincoln’s prophetic words of ‘a new birth of freedom’ will be fulfilled. Pray.”

Just to be clear, Metaxas has publicly committed his life to Donald Trump, claimed that at least two members of the Trinity favor a coup against the constitutional order, endorsed the widespread jailing of Trump’s political enemies for imaginary crimes, claimed Abraham Lincoln’s blessing for the advance of authoritarianism and urged Christians to pray to God for the effective death of American democracy. This is seditious and sacrilegious in equal measure.

They used to be regarded as a harmless sect. They were a minority, although a strong united one. Then the church wasn't enough, and they wanted power. So along came Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson. And others. All pro Republican of course. They helped seal down that if you call yourself a Christian, you MUST vote Republican. Mostly because of abortion rights, and gay marriage.

Every mega TV star evangelist scam artist after that piggybanked off of that, politicizing their churches into Republican recruitment centers. They concentrate on abortion, as killing of a life, which is not even mentioned in the Bible, but ignore most of Jesus's teachings about loving your enemies, turning the other cheek, Helping the poor, the rich having to go through the eye of a needle to get into heaven, and chasing the merchants out of the temple.

The new "Prosperity Gospel" was born. The richer you are, the closer to God. And visa versa. Trump, thought to be a successful billionaire, passed the test for them. Really, they just recognized his popular appeal, and that he'd say anything. And that if they promised him their vote, and adoration, he'd do almost anything they asked, including appointing conservative anti-abortion judges.

Works out perfect for a corrupt GOP. Because for them, appointing conservative judges is NOT about abortion at all. Its that they would also be pro-business. They'd be biased towards the "job creator" over any case vs. the people.

They may be the only group that actually "won" during Trump's presidency. hundreds of right wing judges appointed, including their shiny new cult member Amy Coney Barrett. But all that winning is going to backfire in that they will forever be saddled with their capitulation to Trump and by association, Trump's behaviour and criminality.

He doesn't even need to enter the ER. Here in Orange County, CA, Covid-19 patients are sitting in the parking lot for 12 hours waiting to be allowed to check in at overwhelmed ERs.

There is a 12 hour wait at Mssion Hospital and Hoag Hospital had 1 ICU bed available yesterday. Mission and Saddleback Hospitals are not receiving any ambulances right now. Mission is walk in only.

If you call an ambulance right now, it might not even come.

But Orange County Republicans still won't wear masks and are busy with their petitions to recall Governor Newsom for having the nerve to issue stay at home orders and not letting OC mega-churches have their big services.
