Fallout on marriage amendment hits local tourism Sam Walker | May 10, 2012

http://outerbanksvoice.com/2012/05/10/fallout-on-marriage-amendment-hits-local-tourism/

Almost immediately after the results were announced of Tuesday’s statewide referendum on a Constitutional amendment that defines marriage, threats started to emerge that out-of-state visitors were going to start heading elsewhere.

“After a tough fall and winter of dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, discussions over ferry taxes, beach closures, beach driving permits, game fish regulations, state budget cuts to our local attractions, and even challenges with building the bridges and road structures we need, this is just another challenge at a difficult time for one of the few remaining strong industries in our state,” Brady-Daniels said.

• “We just wanted to let you know that we have stopped planning our family reunion for next fall in Duck…our family had a teleconference this afternoon (including 99-year-old grandma/great and great-great grandma who grew up in Manteo)…we came together as a family and decided to spend our hard-earned (money) on Cape Cod, MA for obvious reasons.”

If you scroll down, you'll see where the progressives finally chime in. I learned that only 63% of eligible NC voters came out to vote this election. The question then becomes . . . why did they stay home?

It's not like Dare County doesn't pay sales tax revenue to the state. There's no way to help the counties that voted with us without rewarding those that voted against.

Machine for effecting political change in NC

(A) Person, not in NC, becomes enraged that 20% of NC's registered voters are troglodytes
(B) and resolves to teach them a lesson
(C) by refusing to spend tourist money in a part of the state where the troglodytes lost at the ballot box
(D) because this decreases the sales tax revenue
(E) increasing the difficulty of balancing the state budget
(F) and allowing the troglodytes in the state legislature to kick and scream about state finances
(G) and to cut funding for environment and education
(H) thus making the state dirtier and stupider
(I) hence less attractive as a tourist destination
(J) and so decreasing the number of people refusing to spend tourist money IN NC
(K) and further decreasing the sales tax revenue
(L) and further increasing the difficulty of balancing the state budget
(M) and so further allowing the troglodytes in the state legislature to kick and scream
(N) thereby effectively slapping everyone in NC alongside the back of the head
(O) and thus teaching the troglodytes in particular a lesson

Just as I have no idea of your activities.

From time to time I do try to post about means of practical political activism that the average DUer can accomplish without interfering with their lives to a great extent. The more bang you get for every hour in political activism the better I think.
