America's billionaires got 44% richer during the pandemic while more than 80 million people in the US lost their jobs

The combined wealth of America's 657 billionaires grew by 44.6% — $1.3 trillion — during the pandemic.

That's according to a new study released by Americans for Tax Fairness (ATF) and the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS). The two organizations used information from Forbes to track the fortunes of America's richest people for one year starting on March 18, 2020.

The difference between how America's richest people and the rest of the country has fared in this time period is stark.

From March 2020 to February 2021, 80 million people in the US lost their jobs. Between June and November 2020, nearly 8 million Americans fell into poverty.

Most of that gain can be attributed to the stock market. marie999 Mar 2021 #4

The rest of us are going nowhere, struggling against technology.

50 years ago, when I worked for the Defense Department, I would be sent from desk to desk to get something done. Yesterday I spent several hours on the phone with my bank doing the same thing except we've added 9 minute waiting periods.

At a school where I taught engineering they installed "smart boards". After 6 months, one of the instructors was able to draw a line. Then, he became able to draw a line in a different color. He was made Dean. Why not? He deserved it.

...UPWARD. There is no such thing as "trickle down." It is a farce and a con... Just like the Republican* party.

Vote. Every. Republican. Out. Of. Office.

NONE of them deserves re-election.
ALL of them are guilty of subverting democracy.
NOTHING will ever get better in the U.S. until the GOP* is gone!
