By Jonathan Chait
When Nazis marched in Charlottesville in 2017, they chanted You will not replace us! and, somewhat more clarifying, Jews will not replace us! The terrorist who gunned down 51 people in Christchurch, New Zealand, used this slogan (The Great Replacement) in his manifesto. Last night, Tucker Carlson appeared on a prime-time Fox News show to defend this theory, not only in substance but also by name.
Replacement theory imagines that an elite cabal, frequently described as Jewish, is plotting to replace the native white population with non-white immigrants, who will pollute and destroy the white Christian culture.
Carlson likes to complain about the liberal habit of anathematizing conservative ideas as racist as a substitute for engaging with their substance. So, lets analyze.
Carlsons argument is cretinously stupid even by the standards of a Tucker Carlson monologue. He simply asserts that immigration expands the electorate, and therefore dilutes the political power of the existing population:

Now, I know that the left and all the little gatekeepers on Twitter become literally hysterical if you use the term replacement, if you suggest that the Democratic Party is trying to replace the current electorate, the voters now casting ballots, with new people, more obedient voters from the Third World, Carlson said during an appearance on Fox News Primetime. But they become hysterical because that's what's happening actually. Let's just say it: That's true.

The so-called great replacement theory posits that white people are being systematically replaced by people of color through mass immigration. The Guardian explained that under this theory, replacement has been orchestrated by a shadowy group as part of their grand plan to rule the world . This group is often overtly identified as being Jews, but sometimes the antisemitism is more implicit.
The theory has also been linked to far-right terrorists who committed mass shootings in both New Zealand and El Paso, Texas, in 2019. The white nationalist groups who marched in 2017 in Charlottesville, Virginia, were also heard chanting both You will not replace us and the variant Jews will not replace us.
In addition, Fox News personalities (including Carlson) have promoted the conspiracy theory for years, casting immigration as a purposeful repopulation of America and helping to propel the idea further into the mainstream of public discourse.

(7,896 posts)People often confuse the terms sociopath and psychopath and use them interchangeably. They arent different in the clinical sense. Both terms refer to people who have antisocial personality disorder (ASPD). Those with ASPD have no regard for others rights or feelings, lack empathy and remorse for wrongdoings, and have the need to exploit and manipulate others for personal gain.
Nature and nurture play a role in ASPD. The reasons behind the disorder are not fully understood. The current belief is that psychopathy generally comes from genetic factors, such as parts of the brain not developing fully, while sociopathy results from an interruption in personality development by abuse or trauma in childhood. People often think that those with antisocial personality disorders are always criminals and are easy to spot, but many are unaware of the disorder and may never be diagnosed.
********
Consistent behavior patterns in sociopaths include:
Lack of empathy for others
Impulsive behavior
Attempting to control others with threats or aggression
Using intelligence, charm, or charisma to manipulate others
Not learning from mistakes or punishment
Lying for personal gain

(3,495 posts)by "white" men probably is doing a lot of damage to their birth rates. Of the folks who stormed the Capital, it seems a lot of them were unmarred and in their 40s and 50s. Probably not a real turn on for the opposite sex. And to be fair, the women in that sh-t show weren't much more appealing. I also suppose this is a thin blanketed call to arms against mixed race marriages since the offspring would no longer be of white cultural heritage.
Preaching hate constantly doesn't do wonders for the soul. Dark souls are not conductive to the friendship and compromise needed to get married and have the courage to start a family.
Keep up the preaching Tucker. It just makes those in your audience that much less appealing to the opposite sex. Your actions are only aggravating the problem you are so up in arms against.
