Washington Post: “A Democratic Senate aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal matters, said there is a misconception that Manchin and Sinema are mainly responsible for holding on to the filibuster. In reality, the aide said, there are at least 10 Democratic senators who disagree with key parts of the bills that Republicans are filibustering, but ‘they just don’t need to say anything crazy because Joe Manchin is out there taking all the arrows for them.’”

Then we’ll know who supports democracy, and who supports Jim Crow 2.0

Having lived in West Virginia, Mr. Manchin, I can tell you: The state is doomed to be significantly smaller vis-a-vis the rest of the country. There's nothing you can do about that. What you can insure is that West Virginia, a generation or two down the way, is greener, better educated, healthier, and most of all, happier.

it's a question of eliminating the gridlock that even Manchin has complained about. Voting rights and a January 6 commission are the most bii-partisan issues that exist and since the GOP isn't going to support either one of them as long as McConnell is around, go around the stump and put him where the people of Kentucky have failed to put him, in retirement. My guess is that he'll step down if the filibuster goes away.
