Evangelical Denomination Paying the Price for Getting Too Cozy with Right Wingers

https://signalpress.blogspot.com/2021/06/evangelical-denomination-experiencing.html

The Southern Baptist Convention has seen more than a million of the members of its churches leave since 2016, with increasing departures in 2019 and 2020. Their theology and doctrine and the practice of the faith is incompatible with Trump's immorality, lying and character.

Baptists became too bat-shit right wing. That they are more moderate than the church has become.

That seems like a good thing to me.

Every year some ditwit "minister" or "church leader" would mouth off.

Slamming all Jews.

"No girlz alowed!"

Their obsession with the "Endtimes."

Their crazy belief only fundy protestants deserved 1rst Amendment protection, all other faiths be damned.

"Moral Stalwarts" that were crooks and perverts.

and there may be some fireworks over how the exec committee handled the sexual abuse revelations given to them when the Houston Chronicle published their expose. I'm kind of scratching my head over why they want to rescind a resolution they passed two years ago declaring CRT/I incompatible with their doctrinal statement. That's kind of upside down. And apparently there's a financial plan being presented which is full of ways to hide the information from view.

The result has never been good when churches or denominations start depending on politics and political parties to accomplish their goals.
