Florida's ban on vaccination proof requirements complicates U.S. cruise line comeback
Some cruise lines are weaving a path that accommodates Florida's law and CDC sailing requirements. Others are not.
When cruise ships depart from Floridas ports in the coming months, some wont require passengers to get the most effective pandemic life preserver there is a Covid-19 vaccination.
Thats because of new legislation Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed that bars businesses from requiring customers to show proof of vaccinations. The law goes into effect Thursday and opponents say it could threaten the recovery of an industry that is vital to the states economy, in addition to making it difficult for cruise ship companies to put some teeth into the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention vaccination recommendations.
Despite the law, two of the biggest cruise lines, Carnival and Norwegian have decided to impose proof-of-vaccination requirements, according to information published on their websites. Violations of the Florida law come with a maximum $5,000 penalty per violation.

Yep. So the ever-assholic Republicans assert that government interference in the conduct of business is an enterprise-stifling sin. They say business must be able to exercise their rights to deny service to almost anyone for almost any reason (i.e., denying service to gays) and business must be able to operate without all those pesky OSHA and environmental rules that allegedly kill jobs by saving worker's lives and protecting the environment.
BUT - when business wants to deny service to unvaccinated people in order to protect the health and safety of their employees and immunocompromised customers, Republican governance holds that that's a bridge too far. So, they ban it and want to impose a $5000 fine for each instance of this "discrimination".
No fines for denying service to LGBT people. But yes fines for trying to keep deadly disease off the premises.
America is over. Let's break off and move on.
