A teen posted that she had covid-19. Police said she was causing trouble -- and threatened jail time.
https://wapo.st/3ia9VCb (No paywall, enjoy)If [the post] doesnt come down, the sheriff has directed me to issue disorderly conduct citations, if not start taking people to jail, the Marquette County, Wis., sergeant told Cohoons father, according to dash-cam video obtained by The Washington Post. Because it is causing a disturbance to the public.
People need to know that this [stuff] is going on and it doesnt do any good when you cant warn them, when you got a sheriffs department threatening to throw people in jail over it, her father argued.
Weighing in last week, the judge rejected the sheriffs suggestion that Cohoons behavior was comparable to screaming fire in a crowded movie theater. He also said that the arguments that authorities were engaging in persuasion rather than coercion fall flat, because that ignored the inherently chilling and coercive nature of a uniformed police officer showing up at a teenagers home and demanding that she cease otherwise protected speech.
"its a very strong statement that cops cant police social media, her lawyer said.

socioeconomic status is among the lowest of counties in that area of Wisconsin.
On the other hand, the environmental importance is one the highest.

sheriff? That person needs to be removed from that position.

(113,086 posts)7. I seem to recall it from a post a couple of days ago.. yes, demovictory9 had an OP
on Sat. Sorry, I cannot link it. It was the school administrator, whatever the hell that is. At least the teen won her lawsuit.
Those people should be sued into bankruptcy, and the sheriff and deputy barred from law enforcement. Hey, they can go to work for erik prince (of darkness).
