Two Jan. 6 Organizers Are Coming Forward and Naming Names: 'We're Turning It All Over'
Two key organizers of the main Jan. 6 rally in Washington, D.C. are coming in from the cold.
Dustin Stockton and Jennifer Lynn Lawrence are set to testify next week before the House select committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol. The pair will deliver testimony and turn over documents, including text messages, that indicate the extensive involvement members of Congress and the Trump administration had in planning the House challenge to certifying Bidens election and rally near the White House where Donald Trump spoke efforts that ultimately contributed to a massive and violent attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Among the documents the couple is providing are conversations they had with staffers and members of Congress as they planned the main rally that took place on the White House Ellipse that day. Stockton described these discussions as largely logistical and focused on planning the members participation in objections to the electoral certification on the House floor and various events that were staged to protest against the election. They include Instagram messages Lawrence exchanged with Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) as she tried to get him to speak at the Ellipse rally. Cawthorn, whose office did not immediately respond to a request for comment, ultimately appeared on stage at that event.
Were turning it all over and well let the cards fall where they may, Stockton says.

(4,932 posts)It was poetic and poignant that Liz Cheney was the member who quoted the FOX news texts to Meadows. Thats all over the MSM this morning. I think the Committee has a plan to ensure the info gets the attention it deserves. The balance is quality versus quantity.i think the slow ratcheting up of exposure is based on how clearly the picture is coming into focus.

(3,759 posts)That one data-point from Butterfield turned out to be the thread that needed to be pulled in order to tear away the curtain of a Republican's undermining of America; Nixon's criminality.
The January 6th insurrection has numerous underlings with knowledge. It only takes one answer to change the trajectory and momentum of indictments.

(11,414 posts)and efforts to block certification are thoroughly in the public domain and have been discussed extensively. This might add a couple of names to the list of participants - but there is certainly nothing revelatory here. Draw a line connecting these people and planned violence .....

removed from the Government ASAP.
I don't think Dustin Stockton and Jennifer Lynn Lawrence want to die on the hill

(1,910 posts)I mean seriously, even Matt Gaetz faced no charges, even after his buddy supposedly got that sweet plea deal for giving all sorts of evidence. Bannon and Meadows will run out the clock with ease using the court system.
None of this will result in anything criminal because its almost impossible to prove intent. Hard to show the organizers intended the attack to unfold without any reasonable doubt. They can say they organized a rally, not an attack and no jury will convict them without some hold outs.
Meanwhile, inflation just came in at 9.6%. If every Dem candidate is not laser focused on the economy, inflation, crime, borders, we are going to get slaughtered in 2022 like rarely seen before.
This 1-6 stuff is important to document for history but is not going to result in anything criminally or help our prospects for keeping the House.

(8,893 posts)Cawthorn is neck deep in this. He replaced Meadows in the same NC district. Pods and Peas. MAGAs are so proud here in district 11. Home of treason, and destruction of the nation. Just a little rural mountain district with the power to attempt a total collapse of democracy. (Heavily armed). LOCK those Two away.

(58,778 posts)It appears they may have a couple/few more names to depose, but if this is all about prelims to the rally at the ellipse, it doesn't necessarily follow that it will have info about the attack on the capitol.
As was noted above, though, it was low level participants that led up the chain to the Watergate revelations, so maybe this leads to something.

(9,866 posts)......them all cover. A rally is not an insurrection. You're allowed to have demonstrations and rallies. Of course you need police permission, I assume.
But doing it anyway is still not an insurrection.
So, when it became clearly a treasonous insurrection, these two and the Congress Pugs will say "we were as surprized as anyone when it turned violent.
Proving intent can be difficult.
This is not a slam dunk yet.

(36,223 posts)forethought to stop the electoral vote confirmation -- as in "stop the steal" -- will be chargeable as conspiracy to obstruct, with their involvement in rally planning as their cover. They knew before Jan 6 that there was no election steal, and they knew militias would be part of the Jan 6 mix; they knew to show rally goers the way into congressional chambers.
The charge will be obstruction, not insurrection. But imo, it should be sedition.

OT Hijack: MadCaw's been working with tRump to try and influence the Congressional elections and get more goons like him elected with the new highly gerrymandered districts that the General Assembly just approved. Fortunately, the state Supreme Court has put that shit on hold and is likely to strike them down as illegal under the state's constitutional requirement for free and fair elections.

(6,701 posts)that antifa folks would be there in droves and a fight WOULD break out
then the patriots would Save Us All. The problem was that the BLM/Dems folks didnt show up.
That there was no fight to start meant the Oaf Keepers had to go to the Capitol to prove their point.
I was trying to remember who asked the Dems to stay at home and not engage them.
Anyone remember?
