New Hampshire GOP Wants You To Squeal: Concerned Moms $500 Bounty For Hunting Down Teachers

- Daily Kos, Jan. 31, 2022. - Ed.

The only similarity between New Hampshire and Virginia is their GOP governors, but New Hampshire even has 1949 anti-communist laws that some in the GOP there want to repurpose for trumpist “reverse racism” purposes. Because liberty in GOP right-libertarianism means abusing state power to force conformity and enforce censorship. Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin set up a tip line for parents to report their kids' teachers. Gen Z activists are pushing back, urging people on TikTok to spam the tip line.

Sofia Ongele, a 21-year-old from Santa Clarita, Ca., said she set up a website that automatically generated emails to send to the tip line. Each email includes the name of a Virginia public school and the lyrics of a pop song. You can see three examples — which use the lyrics from "Hey Ya" by Outkast, "Material Girl" by Saucy Santana, and "Bonfire" by Childish Gambino — here: (See Link)

The New Hampshire law “prohibits the dissemination of certain divisive concepts related to sex and race in state contracts, grants, and training programs.” It describes “divisive concepts” as a number of different things, including ideas like the United States being “fundamentally racist or sexist” or rhetoric that suggests “an individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, is inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously. It’s not good on its face.

But if you recall- I wrote about this development back in Nov. - the new law came with another one of those problematic (& troll-vulnerable) tip-lines for parents to report to the state govt. instances in which they think teachers were breaking the law. A conservative moms group in the state seized on the new operation in Nov., offering a $500 bounty to the first person to lodge a successful complaint against an educator. We’ve seen this before. We live in the Wild West, etc. But as teacher union groups sue over the law & Democratic lawmakers in the state legislature attempt to weaken the law with new bill proposals this session, Republicans in the state are digging their heels in...
