Any problem with the food supply falls on us for letting the oligarchs that control food production do what they have done in the past several decades. They will not spend money on sensible preparations for such a thing. They would rather run it into the ground, make as much as they can, and then just leave the ruins and move to another country. Wash, rinse, repeat. Healthcare and food production are things that should not be solely for-profit. And, we are paying the price for it every day. It will only get worse. We don't want to stop the greed train, so...

5. True. This article was very narrow in its focus, mostly on how there's little varieties of crops.

Only one variety of banana is left.

Pesticides, gmo’s, etc, are also contributing factors. At the end of the day, big agriculture/ corporate profit driven profit is at the core of these issues.
There is some hope seeing farmers in Mexico bringing back many varieties of corn.
Farmers in the US are arrested for even having Monsanto seeds they didn’t buy, growing on their fields brought in by the wind.

Corporations could still make profits, they would need to slow down their “greed train” and plan for the future more intelligently, with the care of the planet and it’s flora and fauna in its consciousness, not just their trash and burn mentality.

But what do I know.

And I wasn’t really trying

Since were talking about it, Apple bananas taste much better than the big bland ones at Safeway that come from across an ocean.

How lucky and nice you can grow your own bananas.
Never even heard of apple bananas. I bet they are quite good.
I don’t think I have eaten anything but grocery store bananas. I probably don’t know what a really good banana even tastes like.
Growing up we grew tomatoes.
Haven’t tasted any as good since back then.

My neighbor has a tomato plant that just appeared, a volunteer. It makes lots and lots of tomatoes. I don’t know how much money I’ve spent on pots and dirt and amendments, seeds seedlings but I think all told they are 30$ tomatoes 😂

Ps Yes, I’m from Hawai’i 🤙🏼🤙🏼

I see what folks grow on the main land and it astonishes me. Beautiful gardens!
