2 Russian oligarchs were found dead one day apart alongside their wives and children, reports say
(snip)
Vladislav Avayev, the former vice president of Gazprombank, was found dead of a gunshot wound in his Moscow apartment on Monday, Russia's state-run Tass news agency reported.
(snip)
Investigators wrote in their statement that they are prioritizing a theory that Avayev shot his wife and daughter, and then himself.
More than 2,000 miles away, in Spain, another oligarch Sergei Protosenya was found hanged, with his wife and daughter stabbed to death, Spanish TV channel Telecinco reported. His body was found Tuesday, Spanish outlet El Punta Vui reported.
(snip)
Mossos D'Esquadra did not assign a motive, but according to El Punta Vui, a working theory for investigators is also that Protosenya killed his family before hanging himself.

(5,248 posts)And he was found in the DC hotel in DuPont circle in 2015.
I remember because I stayed in that exact hotel several times before.
Cause of death: blunt force trama, inside his locked hotel room. Go figure: blunt force injuries to his head, neck, arms, legs, abdomen. Ruled as accidental death .
Seriously.

(22,424 posts)Putin or the Russian mob? Plenty of overlap between the two but they are not entirely the same. I wouldn't be surprised if these particular oligarchs, apparently living overseas, had dealings with the Russian mob.

(10,749 posts)If they are being murdered, who's directing/doing the murdering? Putin and his army of assassins?
Ukrainian hit people?
Some other country's special forces?
Does this sort of stuff stir fear in others in the oligarchy? Are they next? Who's their enemy?
If not, how many dead would change their minds? Not two? Then three, four, more? Or is it who's highest on the oligarchy org chart?

(9,150 posts)I don't believe for a second that these were both murder/suicides.
It's gang warfare.
Which side were these guys on? The same sides or opposite sides?
Is Putin reacting to an attempted coup?
Stay tuned, probably more to come.

It's a conspiracy theory, but not necessarily a nutty conspiracy theory.
