'Incel' who killed 11 in Toronto van murders sentenced to life in prison

Witnesses at Monday hearing describe devastation from 2018 attack in which Alek Minassian ploughed rented van into sidewalk

A self-described “incel” who killed 11 people when he plowed a rented van into a busy Toronto sidewalk in 2018 has been sentenced to life in prison.

Alek Minassian – who was motivated by a hatred of women – was convicted in March of 10 counts of first-degree murder and 16 counts of attempted murder, after a judge found that he drove a white rental van on to the sidewalk with the intent to kill.

At a hearing on Monday, he was sentenced to 20 years for 15 counts of attempted murder, which are to be served concurrently.

Earlier, the Toronto court heard testimony from witnesses and victims, who recounted the horror of the attack, and their struggles with PTSD in the aftermath.

Toronto van attack: What we know about suspect Alek Minassian
Published24 April 2018

Police arrested Alek Minassian within half an hour of the attack

A picture is slowly building of Toronto van attack suspect Alek Minassian - a young man who had spent time in special needs programmes as a child and was something of a loner at college, but who had never drawn the attention of police.

Police have not said anything about Mr Minassian's motive, but just minutes before Monday's attack he posted on Facebook to praise Elliot Rodger, who killed six people in a 2014 rampage.

Mr Minassian, a 25-year-old from the Richmond Hill suburb in northern Toronto, has now been charged with 10 counts of premeditated murder and 13 counts of attempted murder.

. . .

Mr Minassian's Facebook post read: "The Incel Rebellion has already begun! We will overthrow all the Chads and Stacys! All hail the Supreme Gentleman Elliot Rodger!"

but Armenians (think the Kardashians) are right on that thin line between mentally ill and terrorist. This causes a lot of confusion among certain folks since no one can be both mentally ill and a terrorist. You have to pick one based on this guide:

He'd be treated to McDonald's after being arrested, put on house arrest, become a conservative hero, and be acquitted.
