Opinion Liz Cheney's harsh new attack on Trump is a plea for GOP sanity
Cheney is doing the right thing even if this means that she will lose her primary

Cheney amplified her case against Trump at a primary debate on Thursday night. Cheney heaped scorn on her leading challenger, Trump-backed Harriet Hageman, slamming her for fealty to Trumps lies about the 2020 election and urging GOP voters to leave Trump behind once and for all.
Cheney will likely lose her primary, perhaps by enormous margins. But her performance in the primary along with her speech this week casting Trump as a domestic threat represent something forward-looking, a plea to the Republican Party to break with Trumps madness for the sake of the country and its future.....
I will never violate my oath of office, and if youre looking for somebody who will, then you need to vote for somebody else on this stage, continued Cheney, whos also the vice chair of the House select committee on Jan. 6......
How far down the path to democratic instability this will take us remains to be seen. Cheney plainly believes and this view is alarmingly shared by experts in democratic breakdown that unless Republicans execute a fundamental turnaround, there may not be any route back.

(7,737 posts)why I hated the Bush administration so much, and that's part of the problem.
I would look at the women in the Bush administration and start missing Condeleeza Rice. The awfulness of seeing that grifting family in the WH made me start feeling nostagia for the days of Jenna's photos at frat parties. Party Jenna vs Ivanka if you will.
Laura Bush, the sweet school librarian who loved to read vs. Melania wearing that coat.
I am thinking of switching my party affiliation long enough to vote in the Republican primaries this year if Trump announces. NC has its fair share of loons (hey! Mark Meadows even bought a trailer in the mountains to claim he is from here) and I would like the pleasure of voting against them twice.
