Former J6 advisor: The most important part of the Jan. 6 investigation isn't about Trump

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/former-j6-advisor-the-most-important-part-of-the-jan-6-investigation-isn-t-about-trump/ar-AA12TmaC?pc=U483&cvid=2fc48791a2264c5aaa0c8e6f5f3e185b

WASHINGTON, DC — Former President Donald Trump has remained the central focus of the special Jan. 6 committee’s investigation, but the true story of the insurrection is an expansive, interconnected web of elected and unelected Republicans who prize power more than any principles they’ve camouflaged their motives in over the years. That hidden threat to democracy has only grown stronger since last year’s failed insurrection, according to the findings of former Republican Congressman Denver Riggleman.

After he served as a senior technical advisor to the special committee, he says the real, still untold story is of a major political party that’s been completely co-opted by online conspiracy theorists.

“The fact that you have so many GOP congressional members and former congressional members, as well as individuals from the cabinet and high-level GOP influencers, like Ginni Thomas, all pushing the same nonsense, it became quite clear that conspiracy theories had metastasized across the entire GOP infrastructure,” told Raw Story this week.

I can't help but think of other GOPers that have issued warnings. Eisenhower warned us about the military-industrial complex.

More recently it was John McCain that warned that extremists would co-opt the party. He even very publicly corrected a woman at a town hall during his campaign when she falsely claimed that Barak Obama was a Muslim, "not one of us," etc.

There doesn't seem to be enough GOPers willing to stand up to the lies and conspiracies that are developed by the GOP in their campaigns against Democrats.

The money and power are just to tempting for them. And despite calling themselves "Christian," they not only embrace the lies but push them--preying on the fears and ignorance of the electorate.

Reality - is that the Dems need to be more appealing to more voters.

conspiracy, autocratic GOPers ARE the threat to our democracy (not Democratic messaging). Only GOPers can fix the crazy in their party - "There doesn't seem to be enough GOPers willing to stand up to the lies and conspiracies that are developed by the GOP in their campaigns against Democrats. "

Time and time again we see it. Voters want affordable health care, a living wage, roads/bridges/other infrastructure, etc. And time and time again we see voters casting their ballots against their own interests.

And more appealing compared to what? Seriously... TFG? (the serial criminal, admitted serial groper, anti-democratic xenophobe)? Hershel Walker (the most unqualified hypocrite to ever run for office)? Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert (the juvenile bullies who doesn't know their hind ends versus a hole in the ground)? Moscow Mitch? Kevin McCarthy? Lindsey Graham?

Their lies and conspiracies dominate the discussion. And create fear. Which is just what they are designed to do.

What the incisive, winning record Carville has pointed out numerous times, to the dismay of some here, is that the Democratic brand is less appealing.

propaganda operation that undermines the nation from within. Russian influence in Congress is the greatest threat we face. The GQP media operatives are essentially presstitutes.

by the right wing noise machine, and the problem is we are not being appealing enough?

Most GOP voters have no idea what the Democratic Party is or does, even while they are benefiting from Dem policies.

nationally by fox et al - which helps their safe district fund-raising nationally; while not helping the Democratic Party to the needed/deserved voter winning status.
