Trump rips the Supreme Court as 'nothing more than a political body' after they ruled against him

Trump rips the Supreme Court as 'nothing more than a political body' after they ruled against him, even though he appointed 3 justices of the conservative majority

Business Insider/Kelsey Vlamis

Former President Donald Trump criticized the Supreme Court in a series of Truth Social posts after the high court on Tuesday rejected his request to block Congress from obtaining his tax records.

"Why would anybody be surprised that the Supreme Court has ruled against me, they always do! It is unprecedented to be handing over Tax Returns, & it creates a terrible precedent for future Presidents," Trump said in a post early Wednesday morning. "The Supreme Court has lost its honor, prestige, and standing, & has become nothing more than a political body, with our Country paying the price."

In follow-up posts, Trump rehashed complaints over the court's handling of the 2020 election and referenced reports of leaked opinions. In addition to the leak of the decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, a former anti-abortion leader recently alleged that the 2014 Hobby Lobby decision involving contraception was also leaked.

He also accused the court of being "petrified" of Democrats and trying to be "politically correct" instead of "doing what is BEST for the USA."

As awful as this court is, they have ruled against Trump’s idiocy a lot.

The USSC is little more than a political body at this point. In that regard, Trump has a point and a hand.

Yes, I understand Trump, when pinned down, will resort to the truth but only insofar as it supports his goals.

You chose 3 of the 9 members, so who can you blame when they rule against you?
Remember the republican rule. It's only politically motivated when you lose.
When they rule against voting rights, civil rights, and reproductive rights it's "doing the RIGHT thing".
The far RIGHT thing.
Donnie, you need to realize the court is politically motivated for party and social issues. Not so much for your individual needs.
Besides, they don't need you. They're SC Justices for life.

Presidents." Really? This "precedent" goes back to the 1960's, Donald.

The Washington Post's fact checking team needs to reset their Trump Lie Meter for the upcoming 2024 campaign.

They are conditioned to HATE taxes. But since they must pay them, they do not have a lot of sympathy for rich assholes that don't pay their share.

To the extent that they are a political body, it would be to help him, but his cases are so frivolous and without merit they can't just rubber stamp each one in his favor. It also must get on their nerves that he is there every week with some lame appeal that nobody else would bring. He would appeal a jay walking ticket to them if he ever walked anywhere. He appeals to the Supreme Court every time he loses in the appeals courts simply on the grounds that he lost.
