Dead man's DNA links him to 2 cold case murders in Vegas. He lived in Fresno, Merced
This is why I am going to submit my DNA, I strongly suspect I have (Trump supporting) relatives that have committed crimes like this.

A man with ties to Fresno and other parts of the central San Joaquin Valley, according to investigators, was connected by DNA to the cold case sexual attack and fatal strangling of two women in Las Vegas.
Eddie George Snowden Jr. who died six years ago was named Monday as the suspect in the slayings of Lori Ann Perera, 31, in 1992, and Pearl Wilson Ingram, 35, in 1994, Las Vegas homicide Lt. Jason Johansson told reporters.
Snowden died in February 2017 at age 80 of natural causes, investigators said.
Johansson said detectives learned Snowden lived previously in Fresno and other California cities including Madera, Merced, Sacramento, Santa Cruz, Woodland and Watsonville.
He credited police in Fresno with helping the investigation.

(9,173 posts)just for fun and to satisfy my curiosity. No one in my family really cared, beyond "Huh, didn't know we were part Greek! Neat!" I do feel that if someone is warned by family members NOT to ever participate in Ancestry or 23 and Me (I've read of people being warned by parents etc. not to submit samples), the first thing one OUGHT to do is send a sample to Ancestry/23 and Me. Just sayin'.

(58,785 posts)This purpose for submitting DNA had never occurred to me, but my husband and I both have extremely small and boring families.
Imagine evil-doers are likely becoming more and more aware of genetic hazards to their prospects for a peaceful old age.

(3,818 posts)information. DoJ is asking police and other investigators not to announce when they do use ancestry DNA analysis, to keep it on the downlow and there is just something wrong about that being stated to investigators.
As long as they can get a warrant to do a search, sure; other than that, maybe do a little more investigating before getting the warrant, though I do notice that family members did offer their DNA for potential matches, which is not true in all these type of cases.
Double-edged sword here...
