Desantis knows an educated electorate and a strong public education system is a friend of democracy
and that's exactly why he's acting the way he is.
So cut off Florida's federal funding. Yeah, I know that's not possible now, but planning ahead for two years from now, shut down the pipeline and they'll get in line and dump him.

(2,840 posts)but that's not enough where the public education is concerned.
IMO, you HAVE to cut off the accreditation of these schools. They can not meet the legal standards of the rest of the nation. If they can't, they have to have their accreditation pulled. Once pulled, the students will have to seek education under other circumstances. I hate to think of this, but would hope that public education will have to change under these circumstances. I would hope the public would roar loud enough to make changes necessary to enable accreditation possible once again. I don't want to see public education dropped altogether, which I do believe is deSatan's end goal. However, if the subjects dropped in public education are not taught in the private or charter schools, those schools also should be stripped of their accreditation as well. Quickly and decisively. Leave deSantis no out, no matter how loudly he screams and no matter how many lawsuits he files. It's not about him; it's about educating the next generation in the way they should be taught. It's about history and it's about the future. It's not about deSantis' Nazi ideology. Parents need to sit down and be quiet for a while and think about what they actually want for their children, not what they want for their own little selves right now. It may feel good to get that adrenalin rush for a few minutes, but do they really want to sacrifice their children's future for it? I have to believe the answer is "no."

(3,879 posts)Sure, if they're not meeting the standards by cutting all those courses, they shouldn't be accredited either.
Neither of those conditions would last long. The people would take their schools back.
