Florida’s New School Curriculum Is Designed to Make Kids Conservative
The right-wing group behind the newly approved school materials is proud of its agenda.

.............The exception for PragerU perhaps makes sense when you take a closer look at its content. Many of its videos are narrated by right-wing personalities like Tucker Carlson, Ben Shapiro, and Candace Owens. The subject material is as bad as you’d expect.

In one five-minute video history lesson, two kids travel back in time to meet Christopher Columbus, who reassures them that violence against Indigenous and Black people is OK.

“Well, in our time we view slavery as being evil and terrible,” one of the kids tells him.

“Ah. Magnifico! That’s wonderful,” the fictional Columbus responds. “I am glad humanity has reached such a time. But you said you’re from 500 years in the future? How can you come here to the fifteenth century and judge me by your standards from the twenty-first century?”

Columbus tells the kids that slavery was “no big deal” and that “being taken as a slave is better than being killed.”

Those of us in high cost of living blue states are the ones paying for the misappropriation of our tax dollars.

"He will attack President Biden and Congress over and over again," House Minority Leader Fentrice Driskell, D-Tampa, said in her March 7 response to DeSantis' speech. But he "won't mention that $1 of every $3 he spends comes from the federal government."

Her claim references DeSantis' proposed budget, which is a statement of policy priorities; lawmakers will shape the budget as they wish, leaving DeSantis room for line-item vetoes. PolitiFact wondered whether Driskell's ratio of federal-to-state spending is accurate.

Her figure fits the bill. Federal funds comprise one-third of Florida's budget. That's not out of whack with other states: Florida's federal percentage is consistent with the national average.

Even with the 2020 surplus, however, New Jersey taxpayers over the last six years sent $62.6 billion more to Washington than they received in services, more than any other state.

Only three other states also were in the red: Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts. And like New Jersey, they were among the states hardest hit by the 2017 Republican tax law’s $10,000 limit on deducting state and local taxes, known as SALT.

“This should help remove the SALT shiv they stuck into our back here in Jersey,” said Gottheimer, a co-chair of the Congressional SALT Caucus. “It affirms the case we’ve made on why it’s so important. This just puts more evidence behind it.”

The House approved increasing the deduction cap to $80,000 through 2030 as part of its 10-year, $1.75 trillion social spending bill that also reduced child care and prescription drug costs, strengthened health coverage and addressed climate change. The legislation failed to pass the Senate due to the opposition of U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.

I'm paying for this bullshit and I'm pissed off!

I don't know how to get people to understand this . . . they are teaching lies at the expense of the TRUTHFUL.

When word came back to Spain of his gross mistreatment of the natives, he was stripped of his fortune and jailed.

even though the King released them and gave all his fortune back.

"However, the Spanish court received so many complaints of administrative misconduct that Spain sent Adm. Don Francisco de Bobadilla to investigate. The investigation led to Columbus’s arrest and imprisonment in San Domingo on the island of Hispaniola, as depicted on the 2-dollar stamp. De Bobadilla returned Columbus to Spain to stand trial, where he was acquitted."

I guess the point is his actions were seen as abhorrent, and imprisoned.

It was the King who was reaping the rewards of Columbus' antics that set Columbus free.

Kinda' like if the Proud Boys were arrested by their peers, but Trump then said, "they're good people", and set them free.

Post #3 says the opposite--he was arrested and imprisoned--pending trial--but the post continues to say that at trial he was acquitted (not convicted).

Try applying that reasoning to the Crucifixion of Jesus and see how well it's received.
