Donald Trump is toast with a side of cooked goose. Here's why.

Aside from being able to recite by heart‚ ”You have the right to remain silent …,” former President and inmate-in-waiting Donald Trump is probably aware by now his chances of beating the rap (pick one, any one) is somewhere between sharing Thanksgiving with special counsel Jack Smith’s family and Melania spending the night.

Still, Trump is famously more delusional than Col. Kurtz meets Lyndon LaRouche, so he may not be aware of a tidbit that could doom his courtroom chances.

In 2022, the U.S. Justice Department prosecuted nearly 72,000 cases, according to the Pew Research Center. Of that number, a little over 1,400 cases actually went to trial, while most of the others were settled with plea deals.

Of the total number of cases where a defendant chose to take their chances at trial, only 290 were acquitted. Or put another way, Donald Trump is facing tough odds if he hopes to convince a jury to cut him loose.

And why is that? Despite Trump’s Yosemite Sam-esque mouth-foaming claims that special counsel Smith is “deranged,” we need to commit some common sense here.

A) He's completely innocent and he's a victim of a partisan persecution, or

B) Even if he's acquitted for 3 out of 4 criminal trials, he'll burn the country down in retribution. (Aw Hell, maybe he'll do that anyway even if he's acquitted of all indictments. After all, he was indicted in the first place.)

We’re going to be hearing about these cases for years until the Supreme Court says enough and ends the appeals and he gets his punishment.

He'll burn the country down no matter what.

1. For pissing him off, and
2. Because his handler insists.

It is true that everyone is entitled to a robust defense. But when you have a fool for a client, hoping no one will notice the bloodstains on the wall is simply aspirational wishful thinking.

I believe that's really ketchup.
