PORTLAND, Ore. — An Oregon man has been arrested, accused of participating in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

His arrest adds to the growing list of local people facing legal trouble in the years after the riot. The FBI said more than 1,300 people have been charged, in nearly all 50 states, for crimes related to this breach.

David Medina, 34, is the eleventh person from Oregon and Southwest Washington to face federal charges. Medina is from Sherwood and faces a felony charge, plus several misdemeanors for allegedly breaching and committing acts of vandalism in the Capitol Building, such as attempting to break a "Speaker of the House" sign inside.

A tipster initially pointed out the Sherwood man on video and gave the FBI his Instagram username. From there, agents reviewed and gathered open-source material, such as Twitter posts, compiling the evidence in court papers...........................


BREAKING: The infamous January 6th insurrectionist who attacked Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office and boasted that it "felt so good" breaking her sign is arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges.

David Medina of Oregon was caught on video bragging: "So as these guys break into the Capitol, obviously the doors are wide open. I walk in and I am screaming ‘1776,’ cause it’s powerful man. It’s a powerful move, a powerful time."

He has been charged with multiple offenses including destruction of government property, entering or remaining in a restricted area without authority, and disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted area among other crimes.

Court documents reveal that Medina was identified by images and video footage that shows him slamming the wooden sign above then-Speaker Pelosi's office as he tried to break it. Later, he was seen with other traitors holding broken pieces of the sign.

Medina was also spotted wearing an "an ornate American flag" during the attack, which authorities have identified as an indoor ceremonial flag stolen from the Capitol.

Authorities have stated that Medina went on to "make light of his participation in the riot," something that many of these intellectually dense insurrectionists have done.

His aforementioned boast about breaking into the Capitol and channeling "1776" was delivered via Instagram Live on January 7th. In the video he went on to claim: "We weren’t, you know, breaking windows, we weren’t breaking stuff."

"Ummm, I know someone had torn down Speaker Pelosi’s wooden sign above her door and there was like fragments of it like on the ground, and I just took a piece and I just kinda broke it in half. It felt so good," he added.

Like every one of these dangerous MAGA traitors, Medina belongs in prison.

Defendant Allegedly Smashed Wooden “Speaker of the House” Sign

According to allegations in court documents, Medina was present on the Capitol grounds and part of a larger group that unlawfully entered the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021. Medina was identified in open-source images and video footage standing in a hallway outside of the entryway to the office of the Speaker of the House and appears to be slamming a wooden sign affixed above the Speaker’s office, which read “Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.” in an attempt to break it.

Medina is then seen standing next to rioters who are holding up pieces of the shattered wooden sign with partial lettering visible, spelling “of the House” on the top line, and “Nancy P” on the lower line. The lettering appears to correspond to the previously affixed sign above the Speaker’s office.

Medina was also identified in open-source images and video footage inside the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol, waving an ornate American Flag with golden fringe mounted on a wooden pole with a golden eagle on the top. Court documents say that the flag appears to be a ceremonial indoor flag that was likely taken from inside the U.S. Capitol. Medina then left the Rotunda carrying the flag with him.

Court documents say that Medina also appears to make light of his participation in the riot. On Aug. 23, 2023, a social media user tagged Medina in a post on X (formerly Twitter), which included a picture of him waving the flag inside the Rotunda, stating, “lol this u, David?” To which Medina replied, “Yes it is. #FBIsFavoriteCitizen”
